Drake-Thomas

Pedant alert - it's Drakes-Thomas and yes, he looks very promising. In the absence of any of the senior players warranting the match award he was the Player of the match on Thursday. He grew into the game and was very good in the final 30 minutes,

One swallow as they say but he looks to have both the right skills and the right attitude. He started his interview by thanking God that he's able to play etc. Spoke well for a 16yo and seemed to be well-grounded. If his parents share his apparent Christian faith he'll probably get good counsel from them regarding staying humble and taking things a step at a time. Hopefully he'll sign his first professional contract with us on his 17th birthday in the Summer.

Has promise but let’s not get carried away, he has played 1 game against a part time team in the conference.
Yes he did look decent, as did a couple of the other youngsters, but as we all know we’ve had legions of promising youngsters who after several loans end up in the lower leagues or non-league

If we’re really unlucky sometimes they even end up in the 1st team, Soares and Borrowdale for example 🤣

But seriously I enjoyed seeing the youngsters the other night, it was a refreshing change in a game where we didn’t have a lot to lose

This absolutely make logical sense and I agree but it was a crazy feeling by the final half hour, when passes starting an attack were being made I was actively willing it to be him on the end of them, over Sosa, Hughes, Devenny, Esse and Uche. Not because I wanted him to get the experience but because he genuinely looked the most likely to set up a striker. I can’t remember the last time I thought that about a player under 20, let alone 17.
