Why is a Palace Goal from a corner as rare as a hen's tooth ?

Why do so few defenders put outfield players near the two posts ?

who is brilliant and/or crap at getting awarded a corner ?

what best practice and/or memorable events from corners

what dark arts, gamesmanship and other niggly cheating is permissible ?

etc.

I've never once changed my opinion on corners, no matter how many I've seen:

1. Like any cross it needs to go in with pace, at head height, and not close enough to the keeper for him to comfortably catch or even punch it these days.
2. Attacking the above, you want your biggest and best headers of the ball, with a bit of a run on it.
3. Defending, you equally want your biggest and best centrally, with like for like man marking inside the box.

They really fall within the bracket of things completely unnecessarily and detrimentally being over complicated these days, for me.

Have we even got a set piece coach yet?
I have firmly believed that we needed one for some time - the evidence being how crap we are from set plays, our statistics in terms of goals scored from corners are a complete joke.

Although on the brighter side, I noticed that Wolves sacked their set piece coach Jack Wilson couple weeks back because their statistics in terms of goals scored / vs goals conceded from set plays were awful.

Throw ins - It was good to see Jeff Lerma on the long throw against Liverpool, at least it had a purpose, we got bodies into the box & was something different-

OK if anyone posts that its something we have been doing for ages, just put it down to me being pissed or not paying attention ( during the game, not at this moment in time)

I thought Roy got forced to take on a set piece coach by Freedman/Parish but perhaps I just imagined it. It would seem worthwhile, so we'll probably wait til next season and go another whole season being crap at set pieces. It sometimes feels like our Director of Football doesn't watch our matches
