Concert parties

Remember these? Every seaside town used to have them throughout the summer. Twice an evening at 6.15 and 8.45. Back in the day I saw - Tommy Cooper, Brucie, Frankie Howard, Matt Monroe, Dave Clarke 5 and many others. We just don’t get them anymore. Today’s stand up couldn’t match them. Anyone else remember them?

Not just the names that went on to be 'bigger' stars, but there was always a sort of pre-minstrels type group that provided the bulk of the entertainment between any other acts.

I remember seeing this lot (or most probably their successors) in Torquay, around 1958..
