Community Shield

Why? you got church Sunday morning John?
No it's just that I like to get tanked up on a Wembley trip but like many don't particularly want to deal with a hangover on a Monday morning. But if it's a relgious discussion you're after, there's a topic just made for you elsewhere on here.

Do the proceeds of the community shield go towards the community of the winning team? Because the Whitgift Centre has been cack ever since Woolworths went bust.

I'd care more about this trophy if it helped Woolworths return like a phoenix.

Perhaps we could get Joel Ward to come onto the pitch handing out Ace of Base cassettes, pix 'n' mix and washing up bowls.

It used to to be the Charity Shield but the FA had to rename it after they fell foul of the charity rules. Too many snouts in the trough and not enough charity.

Now you’ve lost any sympathy from me🤣 I thought maybe it was travel issues or something else sensible 😁

I think he’s milked his departure enough already 🤣

The match officials have been announced . . .

My cynical view is that not content with this being a Diogo Jota memorial match the FA want it to be a Liverpool “love in” as well so they can sell more television rights. The referee and VAR are both from the North West next to Liverpool so don’t expect anything but a defeat. No guessing which “community” will gain most from the proceeds!

Palace should play the U-21s plus Edouard, Holding etc. Arrange a match behind closed doors against a decent continental side flown in secretly to Biggin Hill and tell the FA our other players are injured.

Of course we should thank the FA for their wonderful support in our fight against Uefa.

Liverpool FC paid their respects at their Preston Friendly and have retired his No. 20 shirt. There was also an outpouring of grief and respect paid at the time.

Spanish police have indicated that they believe Jota was driving in excess of the speed limit in his high performance Lamborghini and the damage to the vehicle would suggest that they are not wrong. It is a tragedy for his family, especially his parents. Jota was driving a vehicle involved in a single vehicle collision that killed both himself and his brother. As he was behind the wheel and no other vehicle was involved it is most likely that his driving was responsible for the collision and subsequent fatalities.

As sad as it was, I am not going to be partaking in any great ‘Love In’ for Jota or (always the victim) Liverpool. They will no doubt try and make it about him but it isn’t.

I will be there to celebrate winning the FA Cup, to support the Palace and to enjoy a competitive game of football at the iconic Wembley Stadium involving OUR club!
