Clyney Departs

He hasn't announced his retirement, and the way the reports are all talking, I do believe he will sign with another club for next season. Possibly in the Championship, or abroad. I have seen MLS mentioned.

Huge thanks to Clyney for all his contributions over two spells at the club. He has been there in two very different eras, even three distinct eras really for the club during that time, and managed to contribute a great deal to all of them.

One of our own, and a club great. He deserves all the plaudits he gets. I wish him further great success whatever he ends up doing next. When he does hang up his boots, I'd love for him to become one of our coaches, if indeed he has an interest in it.

Cracking little player for the club, I remember his debut against Barnsley well where he shut out there tricky winger with ease. He's taken a ride on the wild Crystal Palace rollercoaster and luckily enough he's been involved in more ups than downs.

He seemed to be a model pro in the last few years with us so possibly there'll be a role for him going forwards.

Cheers Clyney

From Survival Sunday 2010 to FA Cup and European glory, that's 16 years and a manager could pick him with confidence right the way through, a 'Mr.Reliable'.

He came back from serious injury to premiership success with us second time around.

Big admirer of Clyney.

😎
Great attitude and character on him too.

His transfer to Saints helped keep club alive as much as any of his many great performances on the pitch.

I hope it was his decision to go and maybe get some more regular games in his twilight years.

If not its a shame , as I do think with lower wages a further short term deal, to act as cover would have been a great decision.
He showed last year in odd cameos he could cover in a few defensive roles using his experience and cool head .

Hope he has a couple more good years and stays injury free

Doubt he would have played any minutes with Mingueza coming in and possibly Tomiyasu coming in too.

Fourth+ choice RWB is quite far down the pecking order.

One of ours who came back and did well for us again. Well done and thank you, Clyney!

I was living in Southampton when he played for them He drove around the city in a brown Bentley reg:CL4NE.

Danny B was also there and apparently became a favourite in the dressing room. He seemed a lovely guy on the occasions I met him and it was never difficult to get him talking about Palace.

However, I heard from someone i knew at the club that Clyney turned up one day and told the rest of the players he wanted to show them something. With that he allegedly rolled up his trousers to reveal brown socks telling them, ‘I bought them to match the colour of my car’.

Footballers!
