Chadi

He was thrown in to the U21s game against Derby County in a Prem 2 game. He scored, looked great and lasted 74 minutes.
He is our ready made Marc replacement if we can build his fitness and keep him fit.
i think we need to be realistic. He's had 2 bad injuries over the last 18 months so it will take him a while to get back up to speed and regain sharpness.
The rule of thump is a day for every day injured, and i think he has been out for about 12 months, so based on that we shouldn't expect much this season.

However, he is young and the signs are encouraging. We need to take it slowly with him, and a few more U21 games won't be a bad idea. Maybe a start in a conf game and see where we go.

Being left footed he will give us some balance in the back 3.

BTW - i agree, with our limited squad i'd not send him out on loan

What do we have to lose? He hardly put a foot (and head for the assist) wrong against Chelski. Loaning him out would be utter madness. And he will glide in with Lacroix and Richards without anyone having to be a square peg in a round hole. Throw him in against Forest and see how it goes - it can not be any worse than seen last time around we lost. PS! Esse scored for the second game in a row (Coventry), but come to think about it - the Millwall kid is "persona non grata" for OG.

You’ve seen Riad play for 10 minutes in a game already done and you think he’s the answer. He’s been out for over a year and truthfully nobody really knows how good he is.

Yes, Esse scored again before getting subbed on the hour. Everton paid £40m + for Dibling - another one that hasn’t had the hoped for impact at Premier League level - and he looked less than impressive when he came on as a late sub last night. I suppose in your world that’s on Moyes and not the player.

I agree with what you said about Riad but what I found encouraging in his performance was that he didn't hold back in the challenges and looked strong and composed. Which to my mind means that he's confident in his knee and his physical condition. He won't be ready for a full game yet but he's worth a start as this will bring more balance to the defence.
Fingers crossed

that's easy to answer - another injury.

Players often get injured soon after coming back from an injury, often unrelated to the first injury. Riad is a prime example of this.

He needs time. The conf game in Feb might be a reasonable target for a start.

Incidentally, only 1 game i know, but when he made his debut v West Ham 18 months ago it was not great, so our expectations need to be lowered based on a 10 min sub appearance. Yes, i know it was one game but he got injured immediately afterwards and hasn't played since

A couple more sub appearances, and 70 odd mins for 21s for the next couple of weeks I'd suppose.

Gets some time on grass, but also a refresher of the speed of the Prem
