Brighton Fans

I was at my local grocery store this morning wearing my Palace FA Cup jersey, and I ran into a fellow wearing a Brighton kit. This is the first time I have encountered a real life Brighton fan in the wild.

Given that I live in small town America, it is likely that I will cross paths with this guy again. Do I treat him like a normal person? Can they be trusted? Are we allowed to be friends? Any advice would be appreciated.
