Criminal convictions and all that. If you are a proven bad-boy, you will often be barred from working as a teacher, accountant, care worker, airline pilot, doctor etc...... But no bar from football ?
surely that sends the wrong message to all our 15 year old urban youth ? We have many ex-prisoners running up and down the pitch, earning megabucks. Should clubs be allowed to be Mercenary about signing talent just cos he can score a few goals ? And fully in the knowledge that he could be a killer or rapist ? Imagine if a 27 year old Messi just got out of jail for killing a kid from drink-driving ? There would be a queue of managers with cheque-books in hand. Is this moral ?
We all know clubs who would sign Satan if he could promise some good results. Is it up to the F.A to address this ? Or as a minimum slam a 'bad boy tax' onto signings of ex-convicts ?
