ARSENAL

Tenuous Palace link, well 2 really . . .

Saints kit is a link to there '76 triumph where they wore it for the semi-final & final, who did they play in the semi's, yup Palace(3rd div) 50 years ago 3rd April 1976.

Saints left sided centre back is Nathan Wood, or to give him his full name Nathan Wood-Gordon, son of Dean Gordon.

Said it was tenuous.

I hated saints for what they did to us, I was very young in my palace supporting years and after the excitement of beating Chelsea I was expecting the same in the semi, especially as it was at the bridge. Back in the day when I took it all to heart, that cup run was the first success I’d known after being in the 3rd division

I was thinking this time last year we went to saints away and we were celebrating and looking forward to our semi final v Villa. A year later it’s them celebrating a semi appearance

The appearance of a semi should be celebrated. Especially if it took a year.

I was at that encounter, on the terrace opposite the 'Shed' end.
Our erstwhile player Mel Blyth was in the Southampton team, as was Peter Osgood playing at a ground he knew so well. Both these players are now sadly deceased.

They still kicked us off the park, I may have been standing next to you 😂
