It is an observation that many top clubs are totally ruthless in their selection , every week. Loyalty to stalwart heroes does not exist. You played brilliant for 5 years ? now looking tired ? gone. Back to the subs bench....or worse.
Of course, football giants have gigantic bank accounts and can afford to dump a fella gone mediocre. Smaller clubs must make do with what they got.
It is my opinion that Palace are not sufficiently ruthless with under-performers. Giving them too many opportunities to redeem themselves when everybody in the Arthur can see its a waste of time.
Shefki Kuqi
Jason Puncheon
Benteke
Edouard
many others
And i put this thread up because i believe the problem is not coming from the managers. It seems to be perennial. Surely a young question-mark player , from the academy, was a better option than a tired broken fella heading for the retirement home or a coaching role ?
and then we gave a Contract-extension to Benteke ? who had only started playing well for 5 minutes previously.
The definition of madness : to continually implement the same failed tactics while hoping for a better outcome the next time.
a) Selling off the good players, b) buying untried untested newcomers, and c) keeping proven Donkeys on the pitch.......the latter being the general thrust of this thread.
a) happens to every club below the champions League, its ok if the money is big. Very big.
b) is a normal part of football life
c) unforgivable
any thoughts ?
