Are we bang in trouble?

So it’s all over Talksport and media that Spurs are in talks with Eze and the Chairman is saying that if MG won’t sign an extension then he will be sold.

With this in mind I can see OG walking. How can he expect to get us playing with 2 of our main players going and absolutely f*** all coming in. Ffs.

I really was under the impression/assumed that assurances had been made that none of the players would be sold and that’s why no signings had been a priority. That was the only thing that made sense of the fact that nothing was happening on the transfer market.

However if it now transpires that Eze and MG are indeed going we are really in trouble. The f***ing season starts in 5 days for us. This really does border on complete self destruction. No way we keep the most successful manager if this is the case. Why would he stay and put up with it?

I really hope it’s just bollocks but can’t help feeling it’s true.

Only Palace would f*** the team up when it is at its most successful. It is criminal that nobody came in with time to bed in again. It’s self harm on an epic scale.

Got to agree.
I can understand selling Guehi as he wont sign a new contract and £45 million would be needed, pity he wasnt sold earlier in the window to be honest.
To sell Eze as well so close to the start of the season as you say would be a major blow.
Its no use having £100 million in the bank as there seems to be very little buying activity.
The team have a great spirit and camaraderie amongst the group and if these 2 left would seriously undermine this i feel.

I dont usually get concerned about the Palace but this would seriously cast doubts on the upcoming season which promises so much.

No we are not bang in trouble, we've just won our 2nd trophy of the summer.

Whilst lest glamorous, IMO Sarr is the better of our 10s. And Eze whilst great, IMO he's less important to us than Cunha was to Wolves or Mbemo was to Brentford so we'll be ok.

MG is a superstar, but we need to sell him this window. And we have a system that

Its been a messy, imperfect summer. But it has been for a lot of clubs. We've got a lot to be thankful for, and a lot to look forward too.

Strap in!

Calm down, we have an excellent first team, i think Guehi has to go, cant let him leave for nothing, i dont see Eze going, i am sure we will replace Guehi, and get another 3 or so players, now Brentford and Bournemouth, No trophy's, no Europe, no team, are in the brown stuff.

We very well could be . What should be the best time in our History could turn out to be a bloody nightmare , losing place in Europa League is bad enough , but if we lose 2 England Internationals days before the season starts than that is poor from the club, how can Glasner be expected to prepare for a new season with top players leaving, once again Parish and co have not supported our manager , arguably our best ever , who could blame him for walking ? We still haven't replaced Dougie, only made 2 signings who will not be starters , plus now talks are of us getting in Stirling to replace Eze if he does go, seriously , Stirling is no where near the player he was he would be a squad player for us at best . I thought after recent events we could really start to kick on , but i fear we will have a season of struggles , more games , with a smaller and poorer squad, jesus talk about come down with a bump ! Parish needs to pull something out of the bag and do it quickly as I can see the fans turning against him

We do this nearly every year, I have posted about this down the years for yonks. One day it will bite us on the arse big time, it might be this year if Glasner walks. After the win on Sunday in Glasner's presser, he was talking about exactly this. We have very little strength in depth. I don't think I was imagining him talking about it; it might be something for Parish and the rest of them to maybe think seriously about.

The problems I see in selling both Eze and Guehi late in the window are that replacing them won't necessarily be that easy, even if we do get around £100 million for the pair of them. Bournemouth and Brentford, already have the cash in, through selling players early may well snap up targets before we can compete or even outbid us.

We have a great first team, but really needed a couple of squad players in earlier, though it now sounds like that could be due to a lack of funds. With Eze, I just hope we stick to the release clause (if still in play) or don't sell at all. Insufficient time to bed in a suitable replacement before the season starts.

As someone else has commented, with 3 billionaires on board along with winning the FA Cup Final and reaching Europe, you would think there would have been a decent transfer pot to strengthen the squad and a chance to boost the value in their investment.

It's starting to look like the beginning of last season, with key players leaving just a few days before the window ends, with us trying to get in last minute replacements.

No we’re not “bang in trouble”.

We’re better than we’ve ever been and have just given the Champions a game that on, paper, we had no right to be competitive in.

Marc will go. Eze will go. Thanks very much to both they’ve been amazing for us…….but don’t lose sight of the fact that Palace and the fans have ALSO been amazing for them.

Eze isn’t irreplaceable nor is Marc (although I do accept both are not just great players - they are great people with top morals and outstanding character).

We’ll find some young replacements and reinvest well - it’s what we do!

We’ll be ok.

Absolutely agree that Sarr has been our stand out player and a fantastic purchase. I also totally understand MG having to be sold but this should have been done as soon as the window opened. Eze would be a blow just because it’s so close to the start of the season and who can we get in to replace either of them. We have Chelsea in a few days then a conference game followed by Forest (god I really hope we turn them over).

I’m not panicking because, f*** it… we won the FA cup and I never thought I’d see that but I am worried that the club have dealt with transfers the way they have. It seems like self destruction to me.

Any player with a year on his contract needs selling, Some we can sell others well no one really wants especially as we will be playing Premier wages.

I have to wonder if we need cash as part of Textor leaving. Yes he sold his shares but were there other plans/outstanding payments due that we now need to find the money for?.

And now we have not got as much money from Europe coming in and still need to pay the escalating costs of the White Elephant stand.

Yes we have a solid first team but beyond that not a lot else.

Selling Eze now would inject funds into the club and well sounds like we need the cash

There’s nothing to panic over, yes Guehi, might go ,maybe should. But the team wasn’t to bad when he went missing last season, and it would cope now especially if a good replacement came in.
Unless Eze wants to leave I can’t see him going anywhere. Palace , don’t need to sell him, yes we are short of money but getting money this way is not very likely to improve the side, so why do it?
If there is a worry it’s not getting OG the players he publicly says he wants, needs.
With four competitions to be dealt with it’s obvious without the boss having to say so the squad should be stronger, so that’s a worry. Are we bang in trouble? The situations not ideal but, No.

Everyone would agree, but what if nobody bids...... its not like we've rejected anything.

No we are not "bang in trouble" nor are we "stagnating" nor was last season "dull".

All three of the above opinions from HOL posters are trully face palm moments. WTF is the matter with some of you? Get a grip

In case it needs reminding to some we have:
The best chairman ever
The best manager ever
The best team ever
The oldest stand ever

The only issue as such is that lids are removed from bottles of water!

So what would you have done to avoid this situation ?

Bear in mind that ;

The transfer window extends beyond the start of the season
Despite what some on here think, I don't think the club have the financial resources to replace the likes of Guehi and Eze until they know they are definitely leaving and how much that will generate
Neither player has been agitating for a move. But by the same token, Guehi also has the right to run down his contact should his preferred move not come off.

As for the paragraph that I highlighted, I really don't know where you got that impression from. I must have missed it because I recall no such assurances. I don't understand why we haven't grown the squad more over this window so far, but as I mentioned above, it doesn't surprise me that we haven't signed players at the higher end of our market as replacements for possible leavers.

It would be typical of Palace to screw up a good situation. This will be my 59th season and I've seen it time and again.

Last season we were bemoaning the departure of Olise and then late in the window, Andersen. Didn't turn out to bad in the end though and I'm backing Glasner to stay on and try to deliver another trophy.

I don’t know if anyone else would agree but with the way everything is panning out I can’t help feeling the achievements of last season have literally caught the club with its trousers round its knees.
Yes of coarse the whole UEFA thing hasn’t helped , but plans for this season would be in place regardless, and even from a distance it it’s not hard to know a deeper squad is needed for cover in extra games. Yet for all that even listening to Parish,s own words, we don’t appear to have the where with all to finance the situation we have made our way into. There is still time for signings, though the lack of even rumour , constantly provokes question s. Let’s hope it’s just the Palace way,as some say. One big question is what does all of this do to the chances of OG staying longer term?
