Man U now reported to want to sign Wharton for £80 m. How can a club who are £515.7 m in debt who owe £414 m on transfer fees to other clubs be in a position to buy anybody?
It's an often told tale but still bears repeating; we owed £30 m and got done for 10 points.
 
Its quite a few weeks till the end of the season they (the media) have got to have something to keep them employed / occupied -
 
Well he’s certainly good enough to play for a top six side and £80M would be about right.


Not that Man Utd. are anywhere near a top six outfit at the moment but he might help them get back there.

The debt isn’t relevant to financial fair play I don’t think as it is related to the club takeover and has then been refinanced. Almost every club and large company on the planet carriers significant debt as it is a financially efficient way to finance things. Structural debt on the balance sheet is completely different to operating losses which is what FFP looks at. I don’t know but I would be amazed if we were not carrying debt as well. If we aren’t we are missing out on financing.

The absolute king though is cash flow and from what has been reported Man Utd’s cash flow is not in great shape. Thats Ratcliffe’s excuse for sacking staff, cutting traditional Xmas bonus payments and stopping paying into the players benevolent fund. Given that it’s hard to see where £80m comes from unless they sell a few players first.

Rot has well and truly set in. The press are saying that Ruben Amorim needs 3 windows to change the team to his way of playing. That is mental.

We're seen regularly up and down the league that managers are able to change the style and fortunes of a team pretty quickly. Glasner did it with us. Presently Moyes is showing it with Everton.

Rashford and Anthony are also showing elsewhere that they are decent footballers. Anthony with 2 goals and 2 assists in 4 games since leaving.

This is from two years ago so the figures will have changed. We do have some debt but compared to other clubs it's not too bad (by football standards - I suspect my bank manager might rear up about it).

Amorim was doing a great job in Portugal, but yet to deliver here.
 
And also quite possibly no European football for Man Utd next season, that won’t help in trying to attract the players they need. Wharton should avoid.

ESR disappointing yet again, he needs dropping along with Anderson. I have said it before, ESR needs to go out on loan in the Championship, toughen up and start working hard

Couldn't agree more, and doesn't it hi-light what an abysmal signing he has been when you don't mind your record signing being out,
The £65 million spent on Smith-Rowe and Andersen must make Summer 2024 our worst transfer window ever.
