Two wins out out twelve played. I don’t think it’s a new phenomenon, SP has hardly been a fortress in the last few years has it?
We are a counter attacking team. A lot of our goals come from turning the ball over and breaking quickly. At home teams can sit back and we can’t break them down.
A minor factor might also be that our pitch is small which limits space in behind defences. Mateta and Sarr are at their best when they can run into space. See Mateta’s goals against Ipswich, Leicester and West Ham.
Indeed, probably on account of the fact that we were pedestrian, did not move the ball fast enough, we lacked vitality and energy.Us poor supporters travelled in inclement weather and witnessed utter dross. We often have more space to operate when away from home.
The onus tends to be on the home team to attack more which leaves us gaps to exploit.
This helps Sarr, Munoz and Mateta.
It could be argued that Glasner’s preferred set up is more suited to away games, but can be a hindrance when at home and encountering teams defending deeply.
It was evident on Sunday that Eze had a half chance in the first minute and then Mateta had a good shot saved shortly afterwards, but then there was nothing really until our goal in the last few minutes.
We created almost nothing, and the Brentford defence was fairly comfortable.
As others have pointed out, we would probably benefit from a Plan B on occasions.
Perhaps the inclement weather played a part in us not really able to get going. Lets be honest Brentford were not much better so I think we should put it down to a bad day at the office. We hit the post in the second half, Mateta had a really good effort saved in the first half. Had a soft penalty given against us and a softer decision to retake. It definitely was not utter dross.Indeed, probably on account of the fact that we were pedestrian, did not move the ball fast enough, we lacked vitality and energy.Us poor supporters travelled in inclement weather and witnessed utter dross.
Mateta's shot, although firm, was at a good height for the keeper. A low shot to the left of Flekken might have paid dividends.Perhaps the inclement weather played a part in us not really able to get going. Our supporters have only witnessed 17 Home wins in the last 50 Home games in the PL.I have a season ticket and maybe get 8-9 games a season. I once went almost 2 seasons without seeing a win at home. 😯
I havnt seen a win since we beat Newcastle last season 2-0 in April. And I have been to 6 games since.
Atmosphere definitely isn't what it used to be. Could be the change in demographics.

Palace didn't win for the first 17 games I went to. Quite why I bother sometimes is a question.I have a season ticket and maybe get 8-9 games a season. I once went almost 2 seasons without seeing a win at home. 😯

An unusual mix of blind optimism and fatalism? Or, perish the thought, terminal masochism.Palace didn't win for the first 17 games I went to. Quite why I bother sometimes is a question.
