First half of the season

And so we reach the Christmas period. We look to be getting some form and look a lot more settled and more importantly (as another poster said) nobody has mentioned the sale of Anderson for a few weeks.

Maxence Lacroix is looking like an absolute bargain. Fast becoming a real player for us. Fast and strong and commands his defence. All that is missing is one of the back three spraying balls out from the back like Anderson’s d we are laughing.

I must confess, I absolutely loved OG when he arrived and I’m sorry to say I started cracking when we were on that run. Starting Kamada in the middle and playing Wharton injured seemed like a terrible idea.

However, with real time to get his ideas over and more importantly get the players to the levels of fitness required for his way of playing (look at Munoz now compared to August through to October) and you can see a real difference.

I don’t mind admitting I was wrong to worry and will now keep my powder dry on Kamada and Nketiah. I really don’t see anything in Kamada but OG does and somebody with more knowledge than me see’s something in Eddie.

I will keep my fingers from typing rants when I see Kamada standing like a list tourist and. When Eddie falls over when he needs to shoot. Time will tell.

I now feel we will finish at least in our normal spot of 14 to 10. I really can’t see us dragged down into a dog fight now we have got going.

Looking forward to Wharton being back and maybe one or 2 new boys in January.

Big shout to my pick for player of the first half of the season, Hughes.
I am happy to be wrong about Henderson
And I’m really glad Mitchell has found some form as he gets a lot of stick which I’ve never really understood.

Would love us to have a semi final to look forward to, hoping we put out a strong team tomorrow.

A lot of reasons for optimism.

He's hoping we can continue the good form with a draw against Arsenal and a couple of wins against Southampton and Bournemouth to end the year!

A half season of two halves!
The first 8 games disappointing, certainly in terms of results and goalscoring.
The latter 8 games showing glimpses of what the team could be capable of in the second half of the season.

What you can't legislate for are injuries, but this is the same for all teams.
Hughes is my player of the 'half season,' but Lacroix looks like he could challenge him over the full duration.

I hope our recent good form doesn't mean the club don't feel the need to strengthen in January.

I don't think we will, we have 4 players all due to be back either this w/e or w/e after Munoz(1match suspension), Wharton & Ward(injury) & also Riad(match fitness). Holding, well he'll never play for the 1st team & Franca, not sure he'll be fit till about Easter, all my opinion of course.

Certainly form has improved and we look capable of climbing the table, well at least away from the bottom 3.
The exceptionally poor start, was always about the comings and goings in the last week of the transfer window. Piss poor planning makes piss poor performance.
My only concern now is that the squad is still thin, and 2 or 3 injuries could see us hit a bad run again. Really need to consolidate in the January window.

OG has said that it will be weeks before Wharton is back. He said it in a way that seemed to suggest we won't see him in the foreseeable future. Presumably a serious setback has occurred and Wharton can now compare notes with Franca about how to wile away the hours.

Holding played for the U21s against Liverpool yesterday

All this is true, as i posted on another thread OG's presser off the main site including Wharton, i agree that he seems to have another setback presumably in training. Holding has been playing for the U21's for quite a while, tho it appeared he picked up a knock towards the end of the game. Thought we were over our perennial 'sick-notes' Ferguson, Franca(?), Wickham etc.
