A Palace man through and through, intelligent and knows the club like the back of his hand.

He probably wouldn't like me, but hell.

Mentioned it before, but I wrote to him when I was 10 years old, addressed to Selhurst Park. Told him he was my favourite player. Got back a signed photo and a full A4 page letter handwritten on CPFC headed paper encouraging me to come and watch a game at Palace (which I did the following year). Lovely personal touch and the kind of ambassador behaviour that cultivates some loyalty with young fans.

And to think we were skint when we signed him from Leicester’s reserves, it took fans money in the lifeline scheme to make it possible
