Taking flags into Wembley

Morning guys

Just wanted to put a quick message on here to see if anyone has had similar issues with getting flags into Wembley for the past 2 finals

I own 2 flags which I had custom made , costing me over £400. These were made by Barmy Flags, which comes with a fire certificate stitched onto the back of the flag. One is 10x5 , the other is 12x6 (feet).

For both the FA cup final in May, and the community shield final on Sunday , I have had massive problems and aggravation with the stewards getting the flags into the ground.

In may, I got to the ground roughly an hour before kick off, and was refused entry into the stadium by the steward who told me i couldn’t take the flags into the ground because they were too large. I said to him that I have watched many games at Wembley and seen hundreds of flags the same size as mine, if not bigger, hung around the stadium. He was very unhelpful and rude, and caused me to become quite angry and upset. I was told that I had to leave the ground, take the flags to the bag drop at the ibis hotel, then go back to the main ticket office to get my ticket reactivated. Running around like a headless chicken, I finally got in the ground at about 2:55. It was very stressful and obviously meant I missed the build up.
I thought this might have just been bad luck as I have never had this experience at Wembley before , however on Sunday, the same thing happened. To be honest, im getting fed up of it, especially when I finally get in and I see multiple other flags the same size or bigger than mine hung up all around the ground. Have I just been unlucky to come across 2 jobsworth members of staff? Or am I missing something? Any advice and help would be much appreciated !

Not related but talking about jobsworths. My wife brought a very small camera device to Wembley for the final, we got in and then one guy asked us to leave as it could be used as a weapon, she is 5 foot and harmless.
We then had to go to the drop off point and pay £10, confused, all staff at drop off including the managers checked and said there is 100% no problem to take it in. So they sent us on our way to print a new ticket. At the print / collection point they said we could only print tickets if we showed evidence the item was checked in. Ran all over the place sorting it. Got back to turnstiles and they rejected our tickets saying print them again. After a 20minute argument they finally let us in a few mins before kick off. All ended well of course but very frustrating when one staff member is on a power trip

I've got no experience of flags, but on Sunday a steward tried to tell me that my 4year old wasn't allowed to bring his half empty kids backpack in. (Literally had a sandwich and crisps inside)

Argued with him for about 5 mins and then told him to do one, went 10 gates up and passed straight though.

Again, no idea on flag rules, but there are definitely those who like to implement the rules whilst others dont

Also balloons confiscated on a previous occasion when being handed out to top tier ticket holders. Safety hazard apparently!

Well done stewards, I and most other people would hate to be sitting next to someone waving such a ridiculous size flag. Have some consideration for others!

Wow!
Clearly this isn’t a flag on a pole that you could wave around. It is one to be hung over metal railings, like many others are around the country every week.

The annoying thing is the rules on what you can take in seem to change from game to game at football grounds and Webley is no different
Throw in a jobsworth and chaos ensues ,not much you can do about it ,just put it down to bad luck

Reminds me of the time a steward at selhurst refused me entry because I had a sainsburys meal deal with me in a bag. Said I couldn't bring in my own food and had to purchase in the stadium.

Guests may bring a flag into the ground WITHOUT permission from Wembley Stadium should the following guidelines be followed:

On levels 1 & 2, flags more than 250cm in size at their widest or longest section will not be allowed (without additional permission) and flagpoles greater than 1m in length will not allowed.

On level 5 of the stadium, flags more than 200cm x 100cm will not be allowed and flagpoles greater than 1m in length will not allowed. Any flags greater in length than this will not be permitted.
