Keep seeing posts such as this one below, with another saying that we've (quite rightly) knocked back a 30M bid from Atalanta, and yet another suggesting Guessand could be the one lined up to replace him.

Interesting though - at what price would you let him go to Utd? got to be north of 50M, and probably north of 70M.

Now, Don't take this the wrong way, I'm a big Mateta fan, but I feel we can get an overly inflated price from those at ManU which could be worth considering, then go off and get Guessand in + 1.

Dated 24th April?

In an ideal world, I'd keep him too, as I said - I'm a fan. Realistically in todays market he's probably 40-50M striker. IF (and it's pure speculation) ManU offer 70-80M, you'd have to consider it.
he stock probably won't get much higher.

I'll die on this hill - Mateta is the hardest player in this squad to replace (bearing in mind that if we're left with Nketiah and Edouard anyone selling a striker is gonna pull our pants down).

You're all gonna say Eze, but I am going to say Mateta.

Decent strikers always are and good ones cost a fortune (so do pretty poor ones). While I know it took a while for him to show what he can do, getting Mateta for the fee we did was brilliant.

After their experience last Summer trying to get Guehi, they know they'll have to offer us silly money (say at least £100m) straight off or look elsewhere.
We need to be aware that this is a very likely situation.

And whilst I really wouldn't want to lose JP. Newcastle might have 150m in their pocket and need a striker who can get up and running. And there are not many around. If would could get +70m for a 28 year old, you have to chalk that down as good business.

I expect it will all depend on where Sesko goes.

If I was in charge, I'd be pushing to get Guessand in asap. With a view to alternate with Sarr/Eze if JP stays. Or play up top if he goes. And then splash some of the remaining cash on Nussa or Dibling.
