Man of the Match Chris Richards brilliantly scored the only goal from a set piece, made an amazing last ditch tackle and dominated in defense.
Very articulate when interviewed, along with his charismatic smiling personality, we certainly have an ever improving player with a bright future, a joy to watch this evening!

Excellent news.

I believe the deal to sign Richards from Bayern Munich was £8.5 Mill rising to £11 Mill. What a bargain it has proved !
As a youngster in the USA he used to be deployed on the left-wing but he started to play in central defence as the 2 centre-halves were unavailable and his goal tally had diminished !

Also an assist from Seb Berhalter who is the son of our former player Gregg Berhalter

Two of my favourite moments from the Cup Final are the heroic headers from Marc and Chris when Haaland (and others) were looming and destined to score. Captures it for me.

He seems like such a lovely and intelligent bloke and he's proved to be a fantastic player for us.

One of my favourite signings of our cup winning era and a key player in that achievement.

Indeed. And as we know he looks like Phil Lynott which is another plus in my book.

Not an accurate Thread Title now sadly

But all the same congratulations for Chris to making it to the final of the Concacaf Gold Cup

He gave the USA the lead in the 4th minute but Mexico ran out 2-1 winners

He'll need a good rest now

Under normal circumstances he'll be coming back to training in 4 weeks - Charity Shield weekend. But if we haven't signed anyone else we might need him

In the past 6 weeks in the eyes of the average American fan Chris Richards has grown from "He's a mostly solid defender" into "He's one of the pistons that make this engine run."

I've always wished Palace did more to promote the club in the U.S., given our mascot, colours, spirited fan support, and easy accessibility to Yankee travelers. He would be a huge asset at the moment. Not to mention, the principal studio presenter for U.S. Premier League coverage (also featured by NBC during Olympics), Rebecca Lowe, has been a Palace fan forever. Yes, the face of televised English football in the U.S. is a die-hard Palace fan.
