The Cup

On the Palace app there is 'Access All Areas' video for those who want to relive the day.

This takes in some marvellous footage from pre match through to the post match celebrations.

I hadn't realised that Freedman was at the match and it was good to see the players celebrate with him as he has been an important part of the story.

There's some teasing of Kamada who is dressed in his suit and ready to go home before the celebrations have even started.

Of course winning a Cup Final helps, but there does seem to be a genuine bond between the players.

Well done for this thread. I am still in awe of what was achieved 2 weeks ago. There has not been a single day that I have not watched cup final highlights or blogs. I knew a trophy win would be special (started in 1974 for me) but it has exceeded my wildest expectations.

People I haven't spoken to you in years have been in touch to say they were Palace fans for the day. This has been the greatest non family event of my life. I am hungry for more!!

Agreed, great thread. I was thinking about it, and I genuinely think it was the best day of my life. I mean it wasn't more meaningful than tying the knot and the birth of my daughters, but...on my wedding day I was 31 years old, knew I was going to get married, and I'd probably imagined what it would be like a few times. When my daughters were born I was a few years older, but again I knew they were coming, and it was joyful.

But on May 17th I had waited much longer (50 years a fan), had fantasised fervently about a major trophy on occasion, and I knew there was a chance but I wasn't expecting it to happen. And I have got to be honest that the scale of stress before the ref blew his final whistle knocks the nerves of weddings and births into a cocked hat 🤣🤣 The explosion of joy was the greatest. Sorry if I am shallow and the description sounds a bit dodgy ! But as the OP said, wasn't it just f***ing great !

I remember the energy of the home game, the away fans felt a whole other level of what we were used too..
I remember the home game as being a boiling hot day. I couldn't get the usual seats so sat in the front row of the Lower Holmesdale in the blazing sun. It seemed that they (Samsunspor) were well up for it and super fit and we had just returned for pre-season. It was still a great day out!

I remember it well, was so gutted we lost. But i also remember they were so much better than us on the day. More a pre season friendly for the Palace team at the time. Hope we can right that wrong next season!!!!

we had just swapped chairman (i think) and the whole squad changed over, they swamped us tbh and did the same in the away match too. I wasn't for the away match but they turned us over in the home leg though.

The Holmesdale was shut for that match .The club didn't expect that many fans to turn up for a game in the middle of the summer holidays so only opened the Main stand for home fans . The Whitehorse was opened for the away fans of which there were many , it was suggested at the time that every Kebab shop in South London had closed for the day

Im still at the Cup winners party , every couple of pints turns into a session and Im singing red n blue !

I’d been asking where was Freedman. He deserved a lot of credit for this achievement, great to see him sharing the moment as well. What an incredible moment
