Considering when he first arrive, there was grumbling's about the price paid & that SJ was our No1 & how was he even going to get a game, he is truly our No1.

What performances he keeps putting in, 2nd equal for clean sheets(someone will turn this), personally, I was leaning towards Hughesy for Player of the Season, but to my mind, its got to be 'Hendo'.

He, like others, has bought into the 'Palace DNA' clearly loves the club & his interaction with the fans is a joy to behold. I know, all of you will have your own views etc, but, just thought I'd put my thoughts out there.

Agree with you Eagleman. I was all for Johnstone over Henderson at first (I'm sure I've written this before in another thread btw), but now there is no doubting Henderson's reading of the game as well as his stopping ability. An exceptional keeper and we are indeed fortunate to have him in our team.

I'd like to see Tuchel give him the nod over Pickford, but I imagine that's not going to happen.

I saw all this bollocks from folks on the BBS, I stood firm and could see he was a top top keeper, and he should be England's #1 for the World Cup, because Pickford just makes gaffs - another vs Arsenal on Sunday which he got away with - first bit of highlight, what a clown. Had Trossard not returned such a shitty pass then they'd have certainly scored.

One of the things I like about Henderson is he clearly cares and wants to do well for the fans. Seems to really buy in to our rivalries and understand why they matter to us

Spot on eagleman, I love the way he jumps up and celebrates a save like we’ve scored a goal, he always seems so pumped up. I still can’t believe that some had his near worldy save against saints as a mistake, he did superb to get down to it at all0
Indeed. Onunachu was completely unmarked in the penalty area and was able to calmly head into the selected corner of the goal from close range. The whole situation looked more like a warm-up exercise than a move from a competitive match. Hendo didn't really have a chance.

Totally agree re Hendo. He has totally turned some fans opinions around with consistent performances, excelling at times. Starting to see Kamada improve, wonder if he can turn opinion round as well

Pickford is a bit of a pain but he has not let England down and has kept Everton in the EPL in a couple of seasons. Henderson is several years younger so may get a run, unless Trafford proves superior

The only thing that's stopping him being England number one is his sweeping with the ball at his feet. He sometimes looks uncomfortable clearing or passing the ball out - although he's not bad by any means. Depends on how much Tuchel wants a Sweeper Keeper to play out from the back. My suspicion is that is the style Tuchel will want. Henderson is clearly working on it however. His kicking, positioning and decisions when coming out have improved by a lot. He was at his best in the last two matches. Keep that up and he's England's no 1.

Also Hendo seems comfortable kicking with either foot. Like Starr has turned out to be a shrewd signing and hopefully Franca will be too before long.

I must hold my hand up and say l was totally wrong in my judgment of Henderson,we have had some great young keepers over the years and Henderson is proving to be possibly the best for his age,but the one that will always stand out for me was Bill Glazier a truly great young keeper who left us for Coventry his potential was enormous,,an England under 21 international,l thought he was brilliant.

Bill was our keeper when I first started to go to Selhurst in 63/64. As a youngster, goal keeping was my chosen position and Bill was very much an early hero of mine. I remember my huge disappointment when he upped sticks and left for Coventry.

As for Henderson, he's been superb this season.

Pete,It was my chosen position in goal as well,he was just superb,it's a bit sad but l still have signed pics of him and some of the other regulars of the day,in my autograph collection!!

Me too concerning Bill Gkazier. I also agree with others on Johnson, he was my preferred choice but I’m happy to have been proved wrong. A lot of people, me included, thought the fee we paid for Henderson and his wages was insane, not many people doubting it at the moment.

I was one of the few who rated Henderson over Johnstone from early doors after I saw his performance against Citeh at the Etihad last season. He had a couple of dodgy games at the beginning but soon showed his shot-stopping skills. The rest of his game has improved since and he continues to get better. Looking at where Johnstone is now, the club clearly made the right decision in buying Henderson and selling Johnstone.

What's interesting to me is how many of our signings have looked very puzzling at the time and even for a year or so after they join and then come good. I was baffled when we signed him but, of course, he now looks a huge upgrade on Johnstone and Guaita before him.

Same with Hughes and Mateta who I must admit I didn't rate at all at certain points but now are integral. Some will scoff but I've even seen shoots of hope with Kamada at times who I wouldn't be surprised if suddenly came good next season and became important too.

The recruitment team overall do have a very, very high success rate in my opinion compared to a lot of other clubs.
