There’s no fixed definition really, but I think if you put years into a kids development it’s reasonable to consider them your academy player - also true of Devenny, Imray, Kporha for example.

Don’t quote me on it, but I don’t think he’s yet eligible for a scholarship or professional terms, so potentially his exclusion is simply based on that. The fact he’s already playing a few years up means he’s a familiar name, but it could well be that he’s just too young for the retained list.

It depends how you define it really - he spent 3 years in our academy from 19-22, so we certainly have some claim. When you look at the big clubs, most of their ‘academy prospects’ were mopped up from somewhere else as a teenager.
