Wolves vs. Crystal Palace match thread

Incidentally Munoz's opening goal came from a rebounded shot by Wharton on the edge of the box. Good to see Wharton taking up such a position where he can have a crack at goal, talk of him not finding the chance due to our shape and tactical master plan is nonsense - if the opportunity arises...

It wasn't that long ago we lost to Luton, so some progress has been made...

True. When he's well versed in one on one with the keeper we can sell him to PSG for £100m, that should get the new stand built...

Wolves vs. Crystal Palace match thread

Yes, all well and good. We have a player, Wharton, who is capable of threading a defence splitting pass in behind for an attacker to run onto, in this case it's either Sarr or Mateta. In Mateta's case finishing from this position is one area where he can improve, I doubt anyone can disagree. All...

Wolves vs. Crystal Palace match thread

It was a clear opportunity whereby it's just him, the ball, the keeper, and with time and space enough to make a decision, and therein lies the problem, he's good at the instinctive stuff but with a bit of time on his hands he lacks the composure to do what, ostensibly, he's there to do.

This I think, is the difference that OG has brought to the team; our game management is much improved.

I think it needs to be said, although he's a popular figure - Mateta is not a particularly good out and out natural goal scorer, and given OG uses him as the focal attacking point the strategy will always lead to a certain sense of frustration. Now I've said this he'll score...

    Wolverhampton Predictions.

I note that a certain D Kamada opened the scoring in a friendly win for Japan against Bolivia. Now he's found his shooting boots expect him to score the decisive goal in a tight game against Wolves.

    AFCON formation

Thankfully this time round it's not such a big deal - OG has only to replace Sarr which means he can rotate Pino and Kamada, with the other midfield places already spoken for. And of course, Eddie Nketiah may spring back into action from injury, so we'll be fine barring injuries.

    Wharton

Rooney used to do this a lot later in his England career too. As for Kane, stick to goal hanging Harry, it's what you're good at!

    Wharton

Wharton is a good player, he has the potential to be a commanding, really good player. As Palace fans, we tend to be gushing in praise as he's one of our own. Give him a couple of seasons and he'll be up there as long as he avoids injury.

Having all our striking eggs in the proverbial one basket will prove problematical given injuries and the number of extra games.

My frustration with Kamada is that for a player who does receive the ball in forward areas he doesn't have much of a shot on him to test the keeper. It would be useful to see him chip in with the goal tally but thus far nothing to get excited by. Other aspects of his game I'm quite happy with.

Shhh, keep it under your hat! This is a key to disrupting Glasner's system, make Munoz defend and not get forward, where he provides a crucial link to attacking play. Notably we created little as other players don't get into forward positions - when this happens it can resemble Hodgson's...

    Our present squad

Sure, and it means we are competitive to make a game of it. We create chances but currently don't put enough of them away to turn the draws into wins - basically it's comparing Haaland to Mateta.

    Our present squad

The Prem table doesn't lie, we have drawn more games than won, which in a way is good as it means we are hard to beat, and as Parish has stated remaining in the Premiership is vital for the club. Trying to juggle our resources to cover all competitions is a task for OG, and thus far he's doing...

    Charity shops

I did a stint as volunteer in a charity a few years ago, very interesting and a bit of an eye-opener all round. I'm not the most patient type and my only experience of retail is when I worked briefly in a greengrocer as a teenager many moons ago. The point I'm getting to is that the customer...

If Gallagher or a player of that ilk were available, even on loan, I think he would fit in comfortably in place of what we have already, barring Wharton who adds an extra dimension with his incisive passing.

Oh, I get the system. Fabio Capello had a similar thing going when he managed Roma way back when; he had Emerson and Tommasi as defensive midfielders, and Totti as No. 10. Width was provided by Candela and Cafu, with Batistuta and Montella up top. Thing is, even Emerson and Tommasi got on the...

This is why I've politely described it as Royball with cherries on top = Glasball. Mateta is the focal point in the system, but as he misfires more often than not, goals can be hard to come by. It will be interesting to see how it works when Sarr goes off to the African Nations, as he seems our...
