They have more points on the board? Makes sense.

Why didnt mateta take penalty vs Newcastle

Equally I've seen penalties missed using this technique. Thing is one should be decisive from the start and have the ability to finish what one has decided on. Eze showed neither.

Why didnt mateta take penalty vs Newcastle

By the time the taker has completed his stop start tip tap dance routine he's upon the ball and at the wrong angle to get any useful purchase on the ball. Saka 10 times the player Eze is did the same. It's a malaise that should be stomped (see what I did there) out on the training ground.

Newcastle vs. Crystal Palace match thread

Just watched the Newcastle site's (on Youtube) highlights, and got as far as their second goal which was very well worked. A couple of Palace players attempt to press in midfield, the Newcastle player bypasses them completely with a simple pass down the channel for which the wideman raced onto...

Newcastle vs. Crystal Palace match thread

Notable from the two games just passed and especially this one: the team didn't compete. No real intent to win challenges or dominate vital areas. One can be led to believe that the players have the semi on their minds, a natural subconscious reaction. It could be also that Glasner's predictable...

Newcastle vs. Crystal Palace match thread

Reality check - some say we are playing well under OG and certainly the style is more attractive than under Roy or PV, nevertheless we remain 12th which is roundabout our average no matter who plays or who is manager. I recall Parish's interview where he seemed happy enough. Even Pardew took us...

Newcastle vs. Crystal Palace match thread

Wembley's a big pitch, I wonder how many of this lot will have the stamina to keep going for 90 minutes - up and down, up and down...

Newcastle vs. Crystal Palace match thread

Wow. It makes one wonder if something has gone on behind the scenes. To be this bad 2 games in a row takes some doing.

I recall Eze's sloppy offside against Citeh for what would have been our third. How things can change so quickly.

This is the grand flaw in Glasner's system.

Newcastle vs. Crystal Palace match thread

OG's system has been rumbled second game in a row. Get wide, pressurise our flakey back three. 2 man midfield can't cope and constantly over run. Can't blame Kamada for this one.

Newcastle vs. Crystal Palace match thread

"Game over man, game over!!" Not much of a warm up for the semi final if this is what OG is hoping for. Risible and far too fancy from Eze, trying to be clever, ended up looking like a chump.

    Kamada will be an asset

In Glasner's preferred two man midfield set up, Kamada hasn't featured often as a starter. There's a reason for this: others are better than him in that particular specialist role. Kamada is described as an attacking midfielder / forward, these attributes do not fit the role he is asked to play...

A loss. Newcastle are currently in hot form.

    Kamada will be an asset

With his experience in major European leagues and at international level one might have expected him to have hit the ground running, notwithstanding his ludicrous salary. It's the same for any job where ones experience should hold one in good stead. I would have thought that he should have...

    Kamada will be an asset

This is it really. I've written before that I don't comprehend what Kamada brings to the party. he's shown very little and has had more than a few minutes to show us what he's made of. Other players I can see why they are there and what job they are supposed to do - it's all pretty straight...

Manchester City vs. Crystal Palace match thread

From OG's post match interview: "We didn't defend on our top level" "They find the pockets, they find the space" Yes this is so, but it is OG's game plan and team selection that enables it. A non combative midfield cedes the run of play entirely to the opposition, I have said this time and again...

Manchester City vs. Crystal Palace match thread

Second half they didn't compete at all. I can only imagine that they are preparing, subconsciously or otherwise, for the semi final. I also suspect that OG is formulating his side for that very game. Note that we are 12th, Roy and PV achieved the same, so the Cup is the big one. I'd be amazed...

Manchester City vs. Crystal Palace match thread

A reporter needs to ask Glasner what he thinks Kamada brings to the team. Although I have enjoyed OG's interviews for their frankness and honest appraisal, I'd be curious to hear what he has to say.
