Uche was quite a handful when he came on. I thought when we signed him he would be backup to JPM like you say however it appears that he and OG believe he is a no 10. Still I would like to see him as a no 9 against Millwall I think his physical presence would cause them problem and give JPM a rest.

...effort Lerma had a particularly poor game. He should really just be a backup central defender from now on. Hopefully, 2 of Kamada, Hughes and Wharton will always be available with 2 of Pino , Uche and Sarr to play further up the park Devenney was pretty invisible but I wish he had taken the...

...evenly primary threat. He was feeding off scraps but I think his form will improve as Yeremy and Uche come into their own (and/or Sarr or Wharton return). I also think Kamada has been increasingly influential, but not yet quite been a match winner. I can see it happening soon though...

...even though we lacked creativity. But if you consider that last season our key players for attacking creativity and threat were Eze, Sarr, Wharton and Mateta, it is unsurprising that we did not find it easy to carve out clear opportunities. In my view Pino showed a lot of promise, but it's...

Crystal Palace vs. Sunderland match thread

Unlike most promoted teams over recent seasons Sunderland look like a team not going down. We certainly missed Sarr and Wharton today but still should have been good enough to win with the chosen team. Thought Lerma and Mateta had poor games which didn’t help. There keeper had a great games as...

Hughes has been a solid player for 2 seasons now and it has been proven him and wharton are the best pair in middle. Not sure what games you are watching. Doucoure has not been seen for a long time and is not the same player. Today was very poor and its nothing to do with manager it's the...

I agree Lerma and Hughes at CM together, or Devenny as a 10 is not what we need to break teams down… though all three have qualities, the balance was never quite right today.

Agree with that. Glasner doesn't rate the current bench. Doucoure, Wharton and Sarr would all start. Hughes and Lerma/Devenny is nowhere near good enough at this level and all but five Premiership teams would have rolled us over today.

Thought we might sneak it at the end. We need to practice our shooting more.

...after 4 and joint best defensive record alongside Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs. Tough opening games as well really. We definitely missed Wharton and Sarr today. I think with those two we probably would have won that game. Pino looks really good to me. Couple of missed chances today but the...

...at Gatwick now having a pint. (Thankfully a lift to east Croydon instead of go to selhurst station) Sunderland were organised to be fair. Xhaka was very good for them and I fancy them to stay up. Reminded me of our early years in the prem. Sarr and Wharton would have definitely made a...

...some of the ref's decisions (or lack of them). I thought our two new boys showed promise. Easy to criticise a few miss passes, but give them a break. Their first chance to mix it with their team mates in anger after all. Shows how much we need Wharton and Sarr to stay fit. Missed them...

Pino is quality. Sarr and Wharton missed. Our defence is rock solid. Did the Cats even get a shot on target?

...up front for much of the game lacking pace and craft 3 ) JPM struggled (unsurprisingly) without Sarr and Eze either side of him and without Wharton pulling the strings. He was often isolated 4) An encouraging debut from Pina, full of endeavour and nice touches. 5) We missed Sarr running in...

Not a surprising result without Sarr and Wharton. Pino not quite firing yet but solid at the back as ever. Positives. Uche looks quality.

    Exactly my thoughts!

Crystal Palace vs. Sunderland match thread

We missed Wharton and Sarr. Not the best performance and sometimes a little bit unlucky. As they say, if you can't score a 0:0 is the best result.
  19. B

    Sunderland Predictions.

Losing Sarr and Wharton is a big blow. I am optimistic for this game but I think it will depend on how Yeremy plays and if we can get an early goal. I assume Sunderland will employ a low block which will frustrate us and it will be hard to break them down. I think it will be a tricky game...

    Sunderland Predictions.

Wharton is such an accomplished vital player and he will be missed, as will Sarr, and our chances of securing a win against Sunderland have been reduced by their absence. I predicted a 1-1 draw but I am getting more pessimistic by the minute !
