Israel v Hamas

Yes, the only possibilities that exist are detaining 2+ million people in a 'refugee camp' or giving them detached houses with swimming pools.

A strong point as ever.
Do you really think the pictures you see are all over Gaza. The beach side looks like Marbella and what you see is a tiny part of Gaza. Shops are open and they are not eating sand. Flour is abundant. It’s not Africa in 1980 , they were eating anything just to fill their tummies.

The bar gets lower and lower.

Oh, that's alright then?

At least 15 Palestinians, including eight children and two women, have been killed in an Israeli strike near a medical point in central Gaza, a hospital there says.

Al-Aqsa Martyrs hospital said the strike hit people queueing for nutritional supplements in the town of Deir al-Balah. Graphic video from the hospital showed the bodies of several children and others lying on the floor as medics treated their wounds.

The Israeli military said it targeted a "Hamas terrorist" in the area. It said it "regret[ted] any harm to uninvolved individuals" and that the incident was "under review".

Another 26 people were reportedly killed in strikes elsewhere in Gaza on Thursday, as Israeli and Hamas delegations continued negotiations for a new ceasefire and hostage release deal at indirect talks in Doha.

If Hamas gave up arms as requested (the amnesty that was suggested by one of the sympathisers on here) then it's over.

Yet in Qatar, Hamas said feck off

Why don't the vocal anti Israel/IDF voices on here accept this would all stop if Hamas stopped, surrendered and relased the hostages and bodies.

This is a simple truth.

The reason is they think Hamas has a legitimate role fighting for the " people of Gaza " and why should they give up.

Then they put on their keffir and go on a march chanting jew hate slogans.

These people cannot change and are incapable of seeing past their own self virtue.

If anyone can sensibly argue why the complete surrender of Hamas would not end the fighting please do so and we can have a debate but don't start the " why should they " thing as a reason

It’s not a case of ‘not accepting’ it - I think it’s just a childishly simple ‘talking point’.

Ok, the terrorists won’t act rationally and they won’t surrender… so now the military superpower is ok to crack on with war crimes? Is that a serious point?

So you agree if that happened the fighting would stop, that's all I am asking.

War crimes? War is a crime.

The concept has little meaning in this type of conflict. Hamas should surrender if it wants to save its people, just like the Japanese did. No one convicted the allies of war crimes for dropping two atom bombs on Japan. They saved the world from tyranny.

Well yeah, that's what you do as a sovereign nation.

Hot new take 🤣

Believe it or not, I still completely disagree.

No, it is a simple opinion.

Also, there are people out there who fall neatly into your stereotype - but "on here"?

Better debates are made when one side present their view and the other side present theirs. Sometimes there is a meeting of minds. However, when one side tries to second guess the other's view and words are placed in mouths, it all falls down.

I agree the atom bombs saved the world from greater tyranny, but those who carried it out escaped prosecution because they also happened to win.

Israel is a new nation carved out by force. Hamas represents a sizeable voice of those dispossessed and related to those killed in the land grab. If you sit in a room with one of them and calmly tell them they should give up, accept the existence of Israel and enjoy their lives you can only expect a clear reply. I believe it is the same response you would give in their shoes.

I am not on their side. There are two sides. But if you want a solution, you have to understand both.

In terms of forcing new nations/communities, I will leave you with his. In the 17th century hardy protestant Scots settled in parts of Ireland. Do you think the land they occupied and cultivated was unpopulated before they came? It has taken centuries to deal with that... and on it goes.
