We were rumoured to be interested last summer, so in the classic Palace fashion, our stalking might finally end in capture a long time after we started showing up at the training ground. From YouTube clips he doesn't look like the finished product, but he does look like he has an unpredictable Mateta-like quality about him. If we did get him for Eur10 million then I guess that's an affordable risk and he could potentially be groomed to replace JP.

I feel much more confident taking cheaper punts on strikers. Spend the money on the quality behind them and most players can do a half decent job. Any time we've spent 'big' on a striker it rarely works out long term... Nketiah, Benteke, Kuqi, Akinbiyi... 😂

I would rather have 3 budget strikers that score 10 goals a season and can be rotated than 1 super star striker who could get injured or lose form.

JPM will start as no 1 it will be up to Eddie and this guy to displace him. Hopefully the new guy is big and powerful, more like JPM than Eddie.

His stats put him at a shade under 6 foot. He seems to be more of a wide player than an out & out striker and is praised for his speed, ball retention and particularly for his effort. He sounds like a real effort player going forward but his defensive play is a bit weak.

Still time with this one.

I still reckon he will "do a Mateta." 2nd half this season he will earn his corn.

Looks VERY raw. But certainly a bit different to what we have, and has that chaos factor.

Also over 20 international caps at 21 cant be overlooked.

Hold on, jpm might move and ten goals a season means championship football next stop.We should be aiming higher than that.

from the comments here, he sounds like someone who won't be an immediate Starter - could take a while to get up to speed/integrate into the squad? is that a fair assessment?

Probably is fair but the same applies to many players. Some hit the ground running and some are a bit more Kamada-ish. Let's hope he's one of the former.

The thing is, with his price tag, anything less than doing 'a mateta' will be a disappointment. Whereas with JP it was an unbelievably nice surprise for a player we spent about 8m on.
