Sad little people

The (hopefully it will happen) Court Appearance should be interesting as their KC says what loveable people and they are down on their luck. Perhaps a Sharia Law suspended sentence for life (do it again and you will each lose a hand) would send a message to other low life.

I think they should update and adapt Sharia law to the circumstances, rather than cut their hands off what if they were forced to each eat a pickled egg? Not a whole jar, that would be quite barbaric.

Shoplifting is rife.
My dear wife recently witnessed a brazen act whereby a lady emptied shelves of goods and scooped them into a large bag before exiting the establishment.
The staff asserted that this person is a regular visitor and the Police have been informed. It would appear that no action has been taken by the Police, given that the lady is a serial shoplifter at this outlet and in all likelihood at others as well.
Makes my blood boil. 😡

I had almost exactly the same experience in the Anerley branch of Aldi. I pointed out the shop lifter to a staff member while he was in the very act of filling his bag. The staff member said, "Oh, him again" and took up position at the till. When the man came through, he turned out is bag, told him to get out - and that was that. No point at all in contacting the police. One thing that puzzles me is how anyone ever finds a buyer for two dozen tooth brushes!

Maybe he knows Jürgen Klopp.

When I worked at Wilko the police wouldn't bother attending unless it was for over £200.

The things that were stolen quite often were lots of big chocolate bars, razors, pet flea tablets, clothes washing products.

What the thieves don't realise (but probably wouldn't care about anyway) was that when they used to walk out with £100's worth of stuff was that it inpacted on the store's profits that week which then affected the overtime we could've had which some of us quite often relied on.

It's the same policy at all stores goods must be over £200.

The bottom bit sounds like a line the company would push it's not true.

I heard the same story from Tesco staff before and knew someone who worked in fiance department so I asked them and they told me it's nonsense it gives them an excuse with a lot of it being PR (They did say about how they calculate loss which is profit only so they really are not losing anything but anything eating into profit or not hitting targets they class as they have lost)

Without laws being obeyed society ceases to function.

I liked the good old days in New York of Broken Windows Theory.

Despite arresting people for "petty crimes", the jails weren't bursting at the seams and serious crime plummeted.

When a reprobate shovels an array of products into a large bag and exits the store, there is no way of ascertaining if the goods exceeded £200.

The Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act classifies circumstances where the value of stolen goods does not exceed £200 as “low-value shoplifting”, which is a summary offence.

unfortunately this is not a new thing. I remember 35 odd years ago doing a summer job with St Christopher's Hospice in Sydenham.

They rely on donations to fund their services and had a big glass bottle in reception where visitors could drop in money. Not only was it heavy it was also chained, yet it was often targeted by thieves.

Eventually it had to be removed.
