Can the women stay up?

Next week's game at Everton will go some way in answering that question. The new manager seems to have tightened things up defensively. We ideally need 3 points in the next game given that 3 of the remaining other 5 games are against teams we are unlikely to get any points from (i.e. Chelsea, Arsenal and Man City..

Given the men's team for once isn't in any relegation bother, we can now enjoy the women providing the excitement on the staying up front. Today's result was a must, now can they do it in the final remaining games?

The EPL was hogged at the top by the rich 6. I read that, until Chelsea had that recent bad year, not one of them had finished in the bottom half of the modern EPL!

But recent seasons have shown the league may be finally coming of age. Currently only 4 with a chance of ECL qualifying (not certainty), 2 floundering, while others like Forest Newcastle and Villa muscle in to their hegemony.

The WSL is still evolving. A handful of the usual suspects dominating the top, with the rest disposable whipping girls. Survive and we can evolve with the league (as the men have done) as the quality of the also-rans slowly improves to make it less of an annual coronation.

The ladies are going to go on a winning run now, and get well away from the drop zone. I reckon the next few matches will be well worth a watch.

Hammers H
Leicester H
Man Cty A

yes we will prob lose those games against top 6 sides ,BUT the Leicester/hammers game could be crucial

That’s why I thought it was a strange comment. Possibly Big Sam’s season we left it a bit late and 2016 under Pardew when we got to the cup final we got sucked in with a poor run in the league, but other than that……🤔
We were in the bottom 3 in December having won one game all season before we beat Ipswich away. Constituted a relegation battle before we got our act together.

Everybody here knew we were in a false position. It was just a case of keep calm and carry on and never a crisis.

if you think that was a relegation battle you’ve not been around very long
First Palace game 1989 so I've seen a thing or two.
Correct comment about false position and being calm. Really my point should be we always start seasons slowly and fight back, rather than hitting the front. Bad planning and never starting the season with a ready fit squad etc.
Anyway back to the thread and I think its important the women's team do well and stay in the WSL. It can't hurt our club status and in my view strengthens it, especially as the womens game grows.

Yes as far as I’m concerned we’ve never been in a relegation battle since we’ve been promoted which is quite some going. But looking at it the way you do, we have looked like we could end up in one, especially the DeBoer season when we lost our first 7 games and even the first season was looking bleak until Pulis sorted us out.
Like you say, we never seem ready for the start of the season, imagine what we could do if we did start one season as well as we sometimes finish

As for the women, after the way they got hammered in the first two games, I think they’d take still being in with a shout of staying up this late in the season
