I dunno. I tend to feel that if the players require the manager to provide them with motivation rather than finding it in themselves and each other then we're really in trouble.I always think things like that are purely the managers responsibility. Jaissle clearly got his players going for the second half and it paid off. Stupid to just hope the players will motivate themselves……
What you on?, I would like some!Don’t you think the fact we can’t defend or attack well might be due to the manager. This squad isn’t great but it isn’t worse than Hull, Ipswich, Sunderland, Fulham or Coventry for example. A competent manager would have more points than Sage and can still keep us up.
Sorry. Are you saying you think Sage has done the best possible job and no manager could have conceded fewer goals or have more points? I didn’t say we’d have won every game just maybe not be the worst defence in the divisionWhat you on?, I would like some!

Man City might save us.For all his failures I know he tries his best to put the club first and has done everything and anything for the club.
Everything falls apart with time. Maybe it's just time for us to go down.

Not if we are bottom as that’s how it looks at the moment :-(Man City might save us.

Apparently, our players are as stupid as my dog. He can’t cope with the time change either and is already asleep, even though it’s only just time for his meal. The start if the second half was a bit weird. All the half time people, kids entertainment, Pete and Alice, groundstaff were still on the pitch when the teams came out and the Palace players didn't seem switched on. Unfortunately Newcastle were right on it, had 3 chances and scored 3 times. Even the offside decision failed to rouse Palace from their slumber.
More I looked at it that was my Thinking . We was still on top most of the game without that push in final 3rd . Could the defenders have done something about 1st goal no it was inch perfect cross . 2nd one was down to one person and not a defender. I thought our defence overall done well they limited them to long shots most of the time . There keeper had to make more saves , goal scoring saves not the easy onesThat was just a kick off routine, no? Its in fashion again now to pass it back to the goalie for him to boot it up towards a charging mass on one wing, rugby style.
Andy Gray used to do something similar in the early 90s you might recall, except he'd boot it half way up the Arthur!
I can't work out whether we did anything different in the second half in terms of set up, or if Newcastle just finally had a couple of decent attacks.
Australia
Yes he caught my eye to. Looks to have a good left foot and some pace. Last time i saw a player with similar ability was when Olise first started playing for us. Osorio possibly has not got that killer touch Olise has but i think we have a player that will be an asset going forward.Osorio just showed a bit of class. Best sell him quickly then......

How can Sage has kept Osorio behind JSL and Nketiah in the pecking order? Our only bright spot in the game. We have now seen over and over that our defence is not up for it, but still the same set-up. Please take away the captainsbind from Adam W, play with a present midfield and I would like to see Mateta/Osorio on top. Spurs and Liverpool up next in PL, after hopefully a B-side in the Carabou Cup midweek.Okay, so back from the game, thoughts are:
The team started well, but we didn't carve out any clear chances. There were a couple of times the ball pinged round the Newcastle box. Then our levels dropped a bit and the first half was drab. The wind didn't help and Newcastle handled the conditions better.
The start if the second half was a bit weird. Unfortunately Newcastle were right on it, had 3 chances and scored 3 times. Even the offside decision failed to rouse Palace from their slumber.
And that was the game. Much of the rest of the second half followed the pattern of the first.
Two main points of concern (minor concerns too numerous to mention here)
1. Wing backs way too high up the pitch. Mitchell frequently our most forward player on goal kicks and ended up just having to sprint back into position more often than not.
2. Leadership an issue. No single point of focus. Wharton, Mateta and Kamada arm flailing after the goals, Yeremy got booked because the ref got tired of him yapping in his ear. Defence lacked direction. We miss Henderson badly.
I would like Sage to have longer in post, but if he won't tell the wing backs they are defenders first, then we need to change to someone who will. Teams with the worst goal difference in the Division usually go down.
Wanting to finish on a positive note. Thought Osorio had a good impact when he came on.
Neil Youngs Why Do I Keep F***ing Up seems very appropriate.Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young.

Excellent summary from my point of view and agree with every word. After the optimism from Thursday's performance, it was doubly disappointing to perform so poorly and lose so easily against a bang average Newcastle.
To me it evidenced the theory that the European teams we play against are not as strong as a typical Premier League outfit.
I came away from the game both angry and frustrated by what I had just seen. Starting with ' off the pitch '. I don't have any time for all the pre match antics, so rarely arrive until a few minutes before kick off. The quality of the stadium catering offerings, and the service provided mean that I never purchase anything - but that's been the case for many years now. Then we come to the atmosphere....it's terrible.
Like them or not, the HF made noise and gave the club an identity that set us apart. Now we are just another soulless Premier League club.
On the pitch, what really matters, is really concerning. While I think the back three of Canvot, Disasi and Richards is not a foundation for success, what's happening around them is making them look more vulnerable . Wing backs pushed too high up the pitch allowing the opposition to run in behind. A midfield that has no specialist defensive player that can sit in front of the back three and offer them a level of protection.
Up top we have a striker that can only play for an hour. His back up, you know the one we paid £50m for, is largely ineffective but is now injured anyway. Sarr looks like he's rather be doing anything but playing for the club that pays his wages. Nketiah....well, he's just marking time until his contract runs down and we sell him off at a loss.
I think what we are seeing is a sort of ' Perfect Storm '. I want Sage to succeed but I don't think he will. I've seen every Palace game this season and not once have I come away thinking we are on the right track. His tactics won't prevail in the Premier League and I highly doubt he has either the will or the ability to radically change them. I'm also one of those on here that think the transfer window flattered to deceive. Look at it this way - we effectively paid £35m for Dwight McNeill - how mad is that ?? Parish and Hobbs ( sounds like a firm of solicitors ) are directly accountable. Hobbs should be out of the door asap.
I will continue to support Sage, but as previously stated on other threads, I think that support is in vain.

Newcastle came to us on the back of 3 defeats in their last 4 games and lost 4-1 in their last 2 Away games.Yesterday they were distinctly mediocre but once again we found a way to lose. After the optimism from Thursday's performance, it was doubly disappointing to perform so poorly and lose so easily against a bang average Newcastle.
