Man City & The FA Cup

Interesting thread…

Gabbiadini was pretty average but not useless and Brolin was morbidly fascinating as he was very skilful but could hardly run because he was so fat.
Brolin ran his bollocks off against Leeds when he was on trial, as soon as he got his contract the lazy fat lump downed tools…….which was a shame, because as I’ve said many times over the years I nearly wet myself with excitement when I heard we were signing him

Now it’s just an age thing when you wet yourself. An oops moment I think 🤣

I feel sorry for the lad, like Dele Ali, lost his way a bit. I hope they both find their way back, still both young enough to turn things around. However, I am mainly interested in Palace surviving this season and winning the Europa League and getting into the Champion’s league.

Yet Spuds paid £12.5 million more for him than we did which makes our signing of Brenda the second worst signing ever 😉

and everton have basically spent the same as us on him.
Swapped for mcneill (who was valued at £20m and we were prepared to pay that in january) and took on the £15m that we still owe the spuds.

Where did you get the information that Everton have taken over the extra £15 million? I just find it astonishing that Everton would have valued him at £35 million after his performances for us.

I think it’s more likely that we took the £15 million hit but would be happy if you are right.

It was widely known at the time of the transfer. We still owed spurs next year for the remainder and Everton just took on the debt.

We wouldn’t have been prepared to just do a swap and then still pay for the player we’ve swapped out. That wouldn’t have been good business for us. And it also worked for Everton as they got a player they didn’t want off their books and have to pay just £15m for a player they wanted who was valued at £35m just 6 months earlier.

It also means it can go on Everton’s financial books next year too which is also a plus for them.

It was a great deal for both clubs!!
