Man City & The FA Cup

Ultimately, there will be a class action against Man City won't there? From other teams.

Hope so.

Their titles mean nothing now, other fans don't recognise them, and Arab owned football and sports washing, following LIV golf, is a massive own goal.

Financially no one benefits if City are demoted to a lower division. It’s been called cheating, but it’s fraud they have fraudulently gained this success. What I would like to see is compensation to all the clubs that have played City over that 10 year period!

I have read somewhere that Palace would benefit to the tune of 23 million pounds. On top of that for every year they have blagged their success a 20 point penalty, so -20 this season and -20 for the remaining 9 seasons.

Finally a limit to how much they can spend in the transfer market, so capped for the next 10 years. This would be fitting considering they are still denying all charges!

In essence, the Abu Dhabi government fund Man City so can afford a 1 billion dollar fine distributed fairly. Re a points deduction, I would prefer Man City to remain in the Premiership as they add to my enjoyment in watching football however it’s by ill gotten means which now taints it all. It’s a bit like letting Lance Armstrong stay in the Tour de France. Perhaps a lifetime ban might be in order here. The problem with that is that the fans would suffer and they didn’t commit the crimes. It’s a very difficult conundrum. In the end, I think a simple relegation. A billion dollar fine. And throw out the owners.

Plus, from a selfish perspective, we get financial compensation and only have to avoid the other two relegation spots although knowing Palace….

It would also be good for there to be a general reset in the rules that allow the big teams to cherrypick and retain the status quo. Something along the lines of NFL with salary caps etc.

On SSN yesterday it was reported that one of the premier team's chairman has come out and said that it would be a financial liability to kick Man City out of the prem...
Oh, Boo Hoo, we might loose a couple of million to kick out a team who has been cheating every other team, along with their supporters, for years.

I think the permutations are that great that nobody can say who would have won what had Manchester City not cheated financially
Saying you were runners up doesn't really cut it as you shouldn't have been competing against the team that 'won'

The competitions have been soiled by City , even in cups the team that got knocked out in the first round could say they could have won it had they not faced City

Its going to be a complicated enough punishment process as it is without the ifs and buts ,best just stick to the facts of the matter and put an * against them or rather ,*cheated
Are Macclesfield facing any charges

Surely the FA have to be equally complicit? 115 charges of financial irregularities, none picked up despite financial regulations checking against money laundering and the rest? Come on. Funny how it all came to light through a whistle blower otherwise it would have carried on and none would have been the wiser - just how they wanted it I suspect. Now the top has been blown off the whole rotten edifice.

It won't be the FA, it will be the Premier League. Which is actually what the core problem in English football is.

In reality, the level of investment into the Man City infrastructure is mind blowing. Another way of looking at it is that they could just afford the best players like Chelsea did before. And so what? The Premier league supports the status quo of the big teams anyway. The authorities are indeed hoist by their own petard. They sat on their hands and were forced to act because of the whistleblower, not because of any due diligence on their part. They are also guilty of turning a blind eye and should be dismantled.

Would imagine it being 500m fine and anywhere between 50 to 70 points , really dont understand why clubs are whinging , they wasn't good enough to beat them simple , liverpool , Utd , arsenal cant complain they could easily brought better players ,

Players and fans done nothing wrong , imagine the fall out if palace had done it , on here , yes points deduction which would send them down , that alone will hurt them , and also send out alarm bells across the rest ,

Man city is not the only game in town so them going down doesn't mean alot at all , there's a feeling of entitlement arrogance from city believing they are needed my the Premier lge ,
There will always be a imbalance with the bigger clubs , there history brings players to them , the rest of us pick up what's left and hope , Spurs is a prime example of poor buys and running of a big club , over 500m and still fighting relegation

The Premier League can only audit the figures they are presented. That is the whole point of this investigation, that City were falsifying and concealing the true source of their income.

They weren’t good enough because City were cheating and stacking their playing squad in a way no one else could. I don’t see how that is hard to understand.

It’s like saying an U13 team ‘wasn’t good enough’ when they get beaten by a team with three 17-year old ringers in it. Of they course they weren’t good enough, they were competing against an opponent that was ignoring the rules.

What action should the Premier League should have taken prior to those emails being leaked?

I would have thought than an audit system would be in place. If it was felt that these are rules that should be strictly followed and enforced. I always thought that Abu Dhabi oil money was behind it all. Does it really change anything? They were the best team for a decade. I wish Brunei would buy Palace.

But they can only audit what they are presented with. They can’t demand access to every file every club has, and nor should they have to.

Man City deliberately presented false books to get around this. That’s why the punishment has to be serious.

I get your point. The Man City financial team cheated. But the players didn’t. And everyone knew what was going on. Financial doping. But isn’t that what all the big clubs do anyway to a greater or lesser extent? I feel that this opportunity should be used to overhaul all the rules that are in place to allow the big clubs to retain the status quo and allow a team like Palace to dare to think about a top 6 and Champion’s league spot.

It’s similar to playing an illegible player. Yes, Kevin de Bruyne didn’t personally cheat, but he shouldn’t have been allowed to be on the pitch with all of those other superstars at the same time.

And I would argue that the shock and reaction at the exact amounts contained in the report would indicate that no, most people didn’t know just how big this cheating was.
