Well that was half. Goal was good but thats all there is to say about that and so far a clean sheet.
As others have said it looks like a team of strangers but thats because they pretty much are. They need minutes even if they don’t get into the first team. Minutes together, minutes in the legs, minutes with fans and under the manager. It really does look like a work in progress.
If it makes anyone feel better… I seem to remember a certain FA cup winning season starting out pretty dire too.

Poor half . Boro look like a promoted team and have a good press but our dealing with it has been awful . Hughes and Timber look as bad as Wharton and Timber did on Saturday ,the game is just passing them by .

I always blame the centre midfield suffering as largely system based. I think three in there might offer us more. Dare I suggest two up front with a roaming false nine or attacking mid? Especially against the better sides. We could still have the back three if we really have to. Which seems almost our thing now.

There are certainly no immediate signs of multi million pound quality from the new signings for sure.
Ahonor looks decent and Disasi unfortunately they are both loans. Chilwell looks solid, Hughes looks rusty. JSL has had a decent half which looks like he knows he’s playing for his place in the side.
Second half has started with some better passing but we still turn it over too easily.

Strand-Larsen looking decent with his head in the box in contrast to his lack of ability to judge headers coming from defence. He invariably runs under them.
