Palace Summer 2026 transfers?

More specifically, I think it's pace and threat down the left that we're missing. We have Sarr, Gozo and Khalaili who are all very quick and who all operate down the right. Tyrick is quick, but despite improving, he still doesn't offer a huge threat down the left. If we got a top left-sided forward today, then that would give us a big lift, I think. McNeil offers some depth from the bench, but I don't see him as our first pick...

...but let's place our bets that this is the left-winger we sign...

We don’t play with wingers. If we stick with the current formation what we need is power and directness in the number 10 positions. Sarr has this but the others are all physically lightweight.

Of course when you look at the squad we should play with wingers but that’s a different discussion

Sorry, I did initially say left-sided forward, but then switched to winger. I do disagree with you though, to an extent. I do think we need more pace on the left, but I think what we need is someone with more guile to complement Sarr's directness. We had that with Eze. In theory, Pino could fill that role this season if he can improve his end product (which always seems to be a case of almost, but not quite). Of the players linked to us, Abde Ezzalzouli looks the most suitable option, but I really can't see us getting him.

This actually illustrates the problem we have right now. Lots of squad players but nobody who is a clear first choice. I look at all those options and with the exception of Disasi and a good version of Richards I feel nervous about any of them starting.

I’d also be surprised if we see Riad again
The starting CBs should be Richards, Disasi, Canvot in that formation. Basically last years formation with Disasi replacing Lacroix.

I suspect that will be the starting back three as you say. Issue I have is the back three was a weak point even with Lacroix. We’d better hope Disasi is amazing

As you intimate that defence even struggled with Lacroix, let alone Disasi who doesn't have Lacroix's pace either.

We had one of the worst defensive records in the Premier League last season and took something like 19 points out of the last 23 games which is relegation struggle form.
It was our form in the first half of the season ( when we had Lacroix abd Guehi together), and the points accrued which largely kept us away from trouble.

The European win masked some of the problems, but it was a poor league season and we now have an even weaker first team.

We still have some good players but for the team as a whole to step up we need the new players to hit the ground running and Sarr and Mateta to be fully focused on Palace.

Best, realistic case seems to be that we end the day with an uninspiring CB arrival having failed the brief to get the CB we wanted this summer, and Bosa and Devenny move on for ~£10m combined. Sarr will stay and hopefully miraculously recover from his injury.

Maybe a midfielder comes through the door but that looks more hopeful than likely.

Sky sports reporting so many rumours coming out of Selhurst Park
It’s so exciting who we’re getting!!
Everyone we’ve been mentioned with , other clubs now talking too or bidding for them!!
JSL & Johnson has killed are budget and sales have balanced books , I hope I’m wrong??

We have recouped the money spent on JSL and Johnson via the sale of Lacroix. After that we are about even since the start of the year in transfers and have an extra 2 first team players. If we can get rid of Sosa, Devenney, Esse, JPM and JRS that will be about 40m in the black hopefully to buy someone like Camara who we will have to pay over the odds for to persude him to come. If Sarr goes that's another 60m. Wont be sad to see any of them go. 4 not quite good enough for the EPL and 2 Izaks. Clear out the dead and rotten wood and start fresh.

There is talk of Devenny going to Celtic on loan. He might not be a major loss but is a useful player to have around. And he takes a hell of a penalty.

I am watching some of the SSN coverage today and over the last few weeks. It baffles me how many players the big clubs buy that they will never use. It’s like they are saying… we have so much money we don’t just have to stop you in the game but we are going to buy up every single player that ‘Might’ show he can dress himself in the kit. It is f***ing ridiculous and needs to stop. I foresee another couple of years of this s*** and what is already a game most of us do not recognise will be unwatchable.

It is just f***ing greed and I for one am sick of it.

Absolutely. There should be a limit to the number of players a club can have out on loan at a time. Perhaps 5. It'd kill the bulk buying immediately.

I don’t disagree but just think how for example Milwall feel when we buy Esse for more money than they can spend and then discard him. It’s the same thing just with higher numbers

Brighton are strongly linked with Azeez from Milwall, who I always thought looked a better prospect than Esse.
Can actually cross a ball and works for the team
