As it stands it leaves us still badly short in the two critical areas of centre back and centre midfield. Those were problem areas going into the window and are still problem areas.

In the meantime we’ve signed some wide attacking players when we don’t have a system (currently) that uses wide attacking players and two new right wing backs.

I’m not sure it’s been a great window to be honest. The squad currently looks not much better than entering the summer and with the same glaring weaknesses.

The window isn't closed yet. Let's try and stay optimistic.
 
Both our wantaway stars,Mateta and Sarr,suffer further injuries and are unavailable for selection.

Did not their thick agents tell them that the Window closes next Tuesday and they will now be part of the Palace family until next January!!

We’ve lost two world class centre backs in Guehi and Lacroix.

So far we’ve replaced them with,
an injury prone free transfer in Tomiyasu who has hardly played in the last two seasons,
another free transfer in Mingueza who apparently is primarily a wing back who ‘can do a job’ in central defence, but who Sage has said he sees as a wing back
a loan in Disasi who is not match fit and has been training away from the first team environment

Aside from this , we’re on our 5th centre back this window without concluding a deal for a variety of reasons.

Relying on the sadly injured Riad was always a big gamble with his unfortunate record.

I acknowledge I don’t know the full facts behind all of the above, but it doesn’t exactly indicate a club that is on top of it’s transfer brief.
The window closes in a couple of days and centre back has always been a priority position this window.

I'm talking about business since he arrived, JSL, Brenda, Tomiyasu, Mingueza, Guessand again.......
As far as Ordonez is concerned isn't that his job to know and navigate?
Maybe I'm just stuck on the shite we signed in Jan but it doesn't smell right to me.
 
As somebody already mentioned on the Ordenez thread, othing seems straightforward for us. Although I know nothing about such things and can imagine that in fact nothing is straightforward in these matters it does really get under your skin because it seems to take longer for to bring players in. Maybe it’s because a) we care so much and b) we are linked with anyone who purportedly an kick a ball so most of the rumours are BS. That said, I am convinced we need CB and midfield strengthening so for now I am duly nervous, and that’s before this evening’s match even starts. I might have to bury myself in a ca e until Wednesday morning
 
Pino is playing on the wrong side, he plays better on the left anyways take him off put Gozo on.

We are playing ok, need to step up in the second half

Pino doesnt play good on any side.

Only time he has shined in a Palace shirt is against subpar teams in Conf League.

We have been poor not sure how you can say ok when you dont even have players closing down people allowing lots of space enough for a guy to run into the box fairly easily and score.

We are 1-4 that is not ok

Haaland doing what Nkeitah should have done against Everton that last goal.
 
Anybody just get the feeling the transfer team are none the wiser about what's going on either? Who's leaving, how many agents, you want what? It's all gone quiet. We're playing Russian Roulette with the first half of our season right now.

No.

I just get the feeling that we only get to know about whats in the papers. So stuff that either leaked or made up. So if the internet isn't awash with chat, it doesn't mean that the transfer dept are on a mini-break.

We've brought in a decent number already this window. Seemingly efficient and at resonable values.

I'd also assume that there are so many moving parts e.g. funds for Munoz sale have a knock on defender/midfielder targets. Last week he didn't look like leaving and we we are looking at target 3&4. Now with an extra 20m in the bank we may be looking at target 1&2
 
The team we had is over now, if Sage is happy sell Mateta and Sarr if they want to go, Mateta is not good for the dressing room if he doesn't get his way, Sarr deserves to go to Liverpool for a final big salary if we are not going to match 120k a week, which we wont, we are in a "transition" period 🤣
