It's unfortunately the brutal reality of the game. Some get endless first team chances while others never get a look in. Good luck to him for the rest of his career.

Good for the accounts too as I think money received for academy players seems to be treated slightly differently

However, I do struggle to see a future for JRS and possibly Esse, but Devenny has been a useful if limited bench option and Ozoh in the limited game time this season has been the one midfielder who's done what Sage has asked, namely pass forward through the lines or drive forward where he has the space. At 21 and with 2 good seasons in the Championship with Derby behind him, I'd be inclined to keep him as a squad option. Rev Doucoure, it's too soon to know whether or not he can regain sufficient ability and confidence to be a genuine midfield option.

I’d definitely offload JRS. Not going to make it in our first team squad. Financially, Nketiah would be the best one to go if we can get any sort of decent fee given he’s on large wages. Esse has completely failed to impress in his time here. Ozoh I’d be keener to hang on to as squad cover given how poor our options in midfield are. I still think Championship is his level but as a squad option he makes sense

Wasn’t he a make weight in Peter Nicholas going the other way? I seem to remember being fairly pleased because as someone else said he was decent at Arsenal and played in cup finals, so I was shocked how bad he was

It's not treated differently per se put it is 100% profit so goes directly to the bottom line - profit.

All transfers out get recorded as full value on day 1 , whereas a purchase can be spread over a 5 year contract.

So buying and selling players for the same value within a window can have a significant short term impact on a club's P/L account

I’ve been away… have we really sold Max for £51 million? That seems crazy cheap for a player in his prime with 3 years left on a 5 year deal? If that is true, Chelsea have pulled our pants down. If he was not a £70million plus player then I don’t know who is. Did he have a release clause…. That is f***ing crazy if not and Chelsea have something on parish and Hobbs.


Anyway… I liked max but we just have to accept this is the way at Palace.
All the talk of replacements, I thought that was what Riad and JD were purchased for?

I actually don’t think we are in bad shape to be honest… as long as we don’t lose anybody else. We MUST keep Sarr and Wharton this season. If Doucoure can stay fit that’s like a new signing too

The first team regulars need to stay fit because as Sage must surely have noticed, there's not a lot else.
 
1. Surprised to see Danny Imray going (apparently) - a talented, natural, attacking R wingback to cover super-Danny Munoz long term. Or will Oscar /Ozzoe/Ozza (?) fill that role…? Imray’s reported £5m insignificant, compared with all the rest, so why sell?

2. Why didn’t Wharton play in either of the friendlies? Surely not held back for sale?? So far as we know, he’s not purging to go. And we should CERTAINLY be demanding £99m+, instead of players (including Lacroix) going for £10-20m LESS than they’re worth.

3. Will Olise go to RMad? Hope so, so CPFC should pocket a handy sell on bonus…

4. We should stick with Franca - Palace’s Bellingham, still in the making. Lovely balance, no lightweight, can finish (forget Bromley). The best Brazilian since the missus took up shaving…

Re 1. Mingueza played RWB during his time at Celta Vigo. He can also play LWB and CB

Re 2. Wharton's ankle injury has flared up again

Re 3. Who knows? Unlikely this window IMO.

Re 4 Franca is no Bellingham in waiting. I do, though, think he could be useful if he can regain his confidence
