The bbc, again.

I would agree that would be the case for most sectors, but the BBC will have an extension of PI which should cover them for media liability.

If Trump can prove malice then it wouldn't pay out, however if he is unsuccessful then it should cover it. The question is whether the level of cover is sufficient to cover it all... and to Badger's point would a judge rightfully punish the BBC and say their fees aren't included if they are successful in defending themselves.
It's a long since I became " failed completely in insurance " so I double checked.

No, according to Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) standards and standard insurance principles, professional indemnity (PI) insurance does not cover deliberate acts. PI policies are designed exclusively to cover civil liability arising from unintentional professional negligence, errors, omissions, or breaches of duty. [1, 2, 3, 4]

Core Principles
    • Unintentional focus: Policies only respond to unexpected or accidental events and honest mistakes.
    • Public policy: Insuring deliberate wrongdoing or illegal acts is legally restricted because it would encourage harmful behavior. [1, 2]

Key Exclusions
    • Deliberate or reckless acts: Any damage or omission done on purpose or handled with reckless disregard.
    • Fraud and dishonesty: Intentional theft, deception, or fraudulent schemes.
    • Criminal conduct: Fines, penalties, or liabilities stemming from proven criminal acts.

You argue but miss our common ground:

It was libel.

They apologized and heads rolled.

The matter has been issued in a court in an area where there was next to no audience.

But...

If the BBC were bang to rights they would have settled.

The defences are very strong.

And..

Trump either dismisses any report he doesn't like as "fake news", or he goes after them through the courts. Most settle not because they were wrong, but because of the inequality of arms and the eye watering cost of defending.

If that isn't an attack on democracy, I would like to know what is.
We are both speculating can we agree to pick this up again when there is more definitive information e.g. judge rules on something significant.

Of course, but what do you think the parties to the action are doing?

The outcome of a claim is generally a disappointment to all sides. It is the speculation of what might happen that's the fun bit.

So glad these people don't get a penny from me.

They make me proud!

Exposing this kind of interference by Musk by our national broadcaster is an essential service. We must show Musk that we control the agenda here and him seeking to involve himself is not simply unwelcome but potentially illegal. If not yet then, if he continues, will become so.

Anyone offering support to this man is, in my opinion, a traitor.

What's where I live got to do with anything. You still haven't answered my Q?'s

A patriot to me is someone who loves their country and is proud to live there, which seems to put me in a minority on here.

Hence why I have lived here all my life. Have you?

It’s also someone who thinks that foreign billionaires should stay out of our politics.

Apparently if you start living in another country you're not a patriot anymore.....rather a lot of non English people living here would strongly disagree with you.

But it's an interesting angle you have taken here.....Are you telling them they aren't patriots of the countries they came from?

That to prove themselves as patriots they have to go back?

Last bit, agreed. 1st bit, I love my country & go back when able(not so much now, mores the pity), but, I love the country I grew up in, educated in, worked in, served in, fought for, raised a family for, employed a workforce for, continue to pay various taxes for(still). The fact I have chosen to live abroad, but not full time, doesn't make me more of a 'Patriot' than you . . . . . Or does it in your world?

Bit jingoistic nes pa's?

Only pulling your leg slightly, eagleman. I’d be quite happy to do what you’ve done in my later years and have a place abroad.

I think what we can all agree on though is that whatever our individual definition of a patriot is, we have far more stake in this country and its future than Elon Musk.

They are distracting from the real news, the real threat, and also passing blame onto the nationalists for it. I spelled that out but I guess some are too fkn thick to get it.

You won't be alive to see your trans grandkids chucked off a building, the fruit of your efforts if you get your way.

Well then, that means the majority of your politically aligned allies aren't patriots then. The left hate our flag, hate our history, our culture, hate white people and want it torn down. None of them would be willing to fight in our military in the face of enemies.

Patriot, lol you clown
