Hello HOLers, I wrote an article for Inside Croydon website about the Leipzig trip but they decided they didn't want it as I couldn't get it to them by the Friday after the game. I've done it anyway and published it on a blog site and linked it here. Hope you like it and please let me know of any factual errors, or if you know any of the people whose names I didn't get or got wrong! Cheers

Thanks for sharing this Seth. I am glad that I made the trip too. Met loads of fellow fans in the two days, unforgettable experience. Regarding the match, it’s pretty incredible that we won with such an inexperienced back line. Regarding the goal, it was all about Wharton driving 40 yards with the ball then unleashing a really good shot, luckily Mateta didn’t have enough time to find a way to miss the rebound. The post match celebrations led by Lacroix as usual were spectacular. We mustn’t sell him just yet.

With regard to the "without immigrants, there would be no palace".

It's factually incorrect. There would still be a Palace.

I've followed Palace since the early 80s. I can only recall one bad comment towards a black player. These were the days when we were supported by mainly white folk too.

I will assume that the comment isn't directed at Palace fans, as we are good as gold and always have been

My opinion is it's virtue signalling on your part.

Good luck to you anyway. Free speech and all that.

Thanks for your report and the pictures. You refer to the march to the ground organised by the Ultras, a video of which appeared on my computer a couple of days after the match. Of all the coverage I've seen, that's what best captures for me the spirit of the travelling support. The sight of that great mass, stretching down the road as far as the eye can see, and singing away, gives me goose pimples every time I watch it (which is frequently).

Seth was trying to trigger people on purpose with his last comment from the article.

Either that or he is very nieve.
The article was about football and a very good one. He then put the turd in the punchbowl.

Pro immigration or anti immigration statements will always draw towards them comments. He must know that and I suspect he won't admit it.

Apparently so! Seth has used his on his own personal blog site and several posters here are policing it!

Read it, it’s a great account of a once in a lifetime (hopefully not just once) trip.

No one is trying or will be able to police anything he has said.

His meme saying palace would be nothing without immigration is just virtue signalling.

It is also not true; .the club would still exist without immigrants.

Someone on his site made a comment with regards to sticking to football and not discussing politics. The writer of the blog then tacitly accuses him of being rascist because the picture has two black people in it.

Absolutely no proof of rascism was given, just total slander.

Obviously Seth hasn't got the latest memo; being called rascist doesn't work anymore.

It would. But we’d be f***ing sh*te.
 
The Palace team that has won the FA cup ,and was successful in Liepzig, is full of immigrant workers, French, Spanish, African ,Sth American. Would we have won those trophies without them? Yes the club would exist without them ,win trophies without them? Almost impossible in this day and age.
