The Burnham scrutiny thread

Its now long past the time to save Britain as Britain, when i left in 2009 it was already a s*** show, and it has got a lot worse since then, it is heartbreaking to see what the Britain of the 50s/60s has become, now their are less and less people that love Britain, and most of them are older and passing away, to the new "British people" that are procreating at an alarming rate, the "right wing" seem to be unable to organise themselves into an electable force with a leader of substance, but i don't see one, sadly.

I doubt it , he walks away every time he is asked about why he didn't back a full rape gang enquiry. He really doesn't want to talk about it .

It's not the leader who runs the country, but the people that hold him accountable. Unfortunately, nowadays these people are the media; press, social or otherwise, pressure groups or those currently benefitting when they should not be. All looking for an Outrage. and there are ALWAYS people that lose out in every decision. Eventually and inevitably the leader will have been found to have done something outrageous enough for these people to call out, sometimes taking their party with them.

The country is in trouble; if they try to do something to actually fix the issues, it offends someone, gets castigated and that's the start of their downfall.

That's what I'm hoping for for the next government, Reform; Everyone expects outrage, so it may be harder to turf them out 🤣. but it'll probably be easier in reality.

I wouldn’t expect Farage to last 18 months if elected. The British Charlie Haughey would be headline news daily on his financial shenanigans and the Russians would be fuelling the campaign non stop.
 
Do you vote for a PM, or do you vote for the Parties Manifesto?

A fair bit has been made (by Farage tbf, but the same point has been made in the past by Labour) that the next PM will not have been voted for - and if Burnham stands, he wasn't even an elected MP at the last election. But isn't it the PM's job to implement the parties manifesto?

The PM is important, but isn't the parties manifesto/ideology more important when voting? So what does it matter who the leader of that party is, so long as they try their best to implement the Manifesto promises that were voted for ? (and aren't changed without good reason)
Lets face it, they're all as flawed as the person on the bench next to them, with ideas of grandeur, self importance, who most of the time underestimate how difficult it is to do the job.

The thing is that is how it is suppose to be but people don't look at it like that anymore and even the parties focus on the main candidate.

If it was just about the manifesto again they have not even followed that so they mislead people.

Any update on the source of your " opinion poll ".

If such a poll exists then then it was answered by idiots, they are saying they would vote now for Labour simply because of a new leader, not because any change of policies.

Can anyone actually believe that Andy Burnham, a man so far from what is needed is going to be the unelected Prime minister of the UK, it defies belief to me.
 
When Comrade Burnham arrived by train, did he say "Long live the worldwide socialist revolution!", and "The people need peace; the people need bread; the people need land". Did he denounce the Provisional Government, telling the gathered workers that they were being deceived and did he call for the immediate transfer of all power to the Soviets and the pursuit of a social revolution?
