Parish has said in interview that remaining in the EPL is the priority. We now have a further European adventure to navigate. Our stay in the EPL has wavered between 10th and 15th, so we average out as a just below mid table team despite recent success. Any chance of pushing on would require retaining the services of the type of player that we have sold. Market forces dictate that we cannot keep hold of the likes of Guehi and Olise, players that would really make a difference. I see the market quoting players around the 40/50/60m bracket and I know we can't compete in that arena, and nor should we.
I'm sure that Parish knows that there isn't much more that can be squeezed out of this current configuration, and he can't mis-sell the club to a new manager with promises of signings, in reality he will need someone to keep it ticking over, same as it ever was.

Toppmoller and Pierre Sage both represent a risk with no EPL experience - but other than Iraola who of the current EPL (ex EPL) managers will excite our fan base?

Frank, Dyche, Silva, etc are all pretty uninspiring.

Maybe we shouldn’t be so hung up on EPL experience at this juncture - Régis Le Bris didn’t have any and he’s done a brilliant job at Sunderland.

Risk/reward and all that….. it’s never dull as a Palace fan is it!
Regis Le Bris arrived at Sunderland on the back of a relegation with Lorient. In fact his win% at L.Orient was just over 30%.
Impressive record at Sunderland - In his 1st season the club finished 4th and were promoted to the PL defeating Sheff Utd in the play-off final. In the previous season the club finished in 16th place.
In the last campaign they finished 7th and will compete in the Europa League next season.
Well done to Regis Le Bris and Sunderland.

It is the model of plausibility that a sizeable number of supporters might have a preference for a back four, with wingers providing the width, nothwithstanding the successes under the 'Glasner Way'.
We've won three trophies by using three at the back well, five, so we should stick to it. If we change now, we have to shift players like Mitchell to play left-back instead of left-wingback, which he has now played for years. Dino Toppmöller is German, similar to Glasner, and they play very similarly; it would just be the safest move for us to do in my opinion. Everyone else has their say, though I just really hope we get him. He just seems like the most exciting option to me, and he did quite well at Frankfurt as well, considering they lost Hugo Ekitiké, who was probably their best player.

I’m keeping my fingers crossed Ollie (as a proven winner) gets the Liverpool gig ahead of Iraola. 🤞

It’s a massive step for a relatively inexperienced Manager like Iraola - a couple of more years at somewhere like Palace upsetting the big boys might be the shrewd thing to do?
That actually makes good sense, although I should imagine Ollie’s rant back in January might have done him a lot of harm where the top jobs are concerned

My manager of the season.
Signed around a dozen new players and got them playing as a team almost from Day 1.
A remarkable achievement.

Especially as throwing money at it is not always the way forward for newly promoted teams, Fulham came unstuck a few years ago after spending circa £150 million after promotion. These players still have to be gelled into a team and the players that actually got you promoted have to be kept happy if they’re not starting

Can't go by 1 season data otherwise some of our past managers would be highly rated.

Pardew and PV had 1 good season only look at both of those now.

Sunderland spent around 215 million vs Palace at around 140 just for people to compare.

I am all for the next manager playing the same tactics as Glasner but ideally with more flexibility for when it doesn't work. Some kind of 4-4-2 style motif as a plan B maybe.

Le Bris was at Lorient for 2 years.

I am referring to top flight prem which is all that matters.

Still very poor how Palace has not announced new manager if they knew as has been said Oct last year they was told so had all this time and still nothing yet.

We need to sort this out we are so slow at doing everything & I hope this is not how the transfer window turns out again.

Why do they want us to play 442 when we cant even work a 5 at the back 😭😭 we have the worst Goal difference apart from the bottem 3 . Going to a 442 would be horrible considering we're basically a counter attacking playstyle 😬 we'd get slaughted if we go to 442 tbh . I reckon anyway
