It doesn’t really matter who we get, we have 80% of a world class squad.
 
A name people wont probably know Jindřich Trpišovský, he's done amazing things in Czech football with small budget teams. Took Slovan Liberec to the Europa League group stages twice. Has won the Czech league 5 times and the FACr Cup 4 times with Slavia Prague. Got them to the quarter finals of the Europa League twice, quarter finals of the conference league once and the group stages of the Champions League twice. Imagine what he could do with a team of our quality.

There are 2 things you are missing. If the release clause was met Palace could have played hard ball and insisted it was all paid upfront to deter Chelsea. Just because a release clause is met it rarely states the payment terms so the selling club do have some influence. It's not black and white.

Also we offered , and Olise accepted, a new contract with his wages doubling so i would argue SP did more than just try and persuade Olise to stay.

Whether fair or not he has a reputation now as a bit of a difficult character. Not a massive issue for a mid table or up and coming club but we’ve seen big English clubs simply will not accept anyone who doesn’t tow the line. Also no guarantee his style of play (concede possession, play on the break) will work for bigger teams. We’ve seen he has struggled tactically against teams who are happy to give us possession.

When you combine that with some notable false starts of clubs hiring managers from ‘smaller’ clubs and it was always going to be very hard for him to get a ‘big’ job in the EPL. I said a while ago somewhere like Lverkusen was probably where he’d end up.

In actual fact, last night I was just about to devour a steak in a Public House when I received a message quizzing me about developments in respect of the new manager.
My dear wife was not best pleased that I chose to view my mobile phone when we were enjoying a meal together ! She can be a termagant at times !!
My steak was succulent and the cuisine in general was delectable.
