the main thrust of the OP is that we now have Islamist/Left politics versus Everybody else/Right, especially Jewish voters. This is for the UK and Trump and elsewhere.

Because this is, by any kind of definition, an unholy alliance. Islam is an external civilizational threat. Always has been, always will be. And that is fine. It makes no bones about that. Seeks to dominate everywhere it goes, offering its adherents a complete political and religious system to live by. I actually respect it as an enemy and can happily break bread with Muslims on that basis. I actually have Muslim friends, and we share a lot more values, far more than I do with any Lefty scum.
But the Progressive Left are the internal civilizational threat. Like a form of socially liberal progressive cancer trying to destroy us. And like the worst of all cancers, in the blood of our society. They are anti-life, anti-thriving, anti-West and wish to impose on us a uniformity of thought and behaviour on all of us, seeking to use Muslims as their foot-soldiers. And worst of all, they are actually Europeans supporting an external enemy. Traitors in every sense of the word.
I despise them with a passion and see them as the far more dangerous enemy, as things stand and suspect will be for my lifetime.
All you have to do, to understand how utterly devoid of any kind of moral justification this Left/Muslim alliance is, is to explore how the notion of Aspotase works within Islam, and then ask any Lefties to justify why they stand shoulder to shoulder with them.

Both are huge cities and financial centres. Such places are always likely to be where terrorists target.

Forget the gay stuff. Forget the slavery stuff. It's just boring. To easy. Like shooting fish in a barrel and not grasping what is really at play here. To understand the modern progressive left mindset you need to imagine them as junkies. Every time they virtue signal, they get a hit of dopamine. And like all addictions, they need to go further and further every time to get that hit. So, them proclaiming themselves as the champions/defenders of Islam, with all the inherent contradictions in that, is literally their version of heroin. Effectively, Islam replaced paedophilia (just look at how many on the Left sort to defend it/normalise it during the 70's and 80's ) for many of them in terms of being able to get the hit they so desperately desire. I cannot remember any significant Left support for Islamic causes during that period. Yes, very much in support of elements of the Pan-Arabist movement, but those movements were predominantly secular/socialist and actually oppose Islam in much of the Arab world.
Ironically, it was the Right supporting Islamic movements during that same period, following the invasion of Afghanistan by Russia so we are all, in some ways, guilty of the same hypocrisy, although that was an extension of the cold-war and certainly not seeking to undermine society in the West.
Anyone who believes any of that turgid untrue guff has ears yes but nothing between them. 😆 😆 😆
