Who wants to keep Uche?

He's very raw. You can see why they took a punt on him, and there might be a player in there, but even if Mateta goes it's hard to see how Uche gets signed now that they've paid out for Johnson, Larsen, and Pino, having already paid out for Nketiah, and with Sarr being the best performer of the lot. That's without Guessand, and also without leaving a spot in the squad for any of the academy prospects.

He's got no chance of being here next season.

If we had a decent striker coach all our strikers, and past strikers, would be better. Uche has the characteristics of a striker as does Mateta, but both are under performing. Some one mentioned Alex Sorloth earlier. He too looked like a good striker but never had the coaching or the chance of a run of games with us. I am not at all surprised that he is one of the top scorers in Europe now. Don't blame the players blame the coaches.

I agree .Though he might turn out to be a player we will kick ourselves for letting go I just dont see where he gets a game . With our recent signings he has been knocked well down the pecking order and as you say will be a road block to any of our kids that show promise .

He’s a bit like Franca. Shows signs that he could be a decent player but £20 million was crazy fee. We’re having to make the best of it with Franca but have a fervour with Uche, so unless we can negotiate a cheaper deal in the summer I’m afraid he goes back.

I would love to see him make it with us, but it seems like there isn’t a space for him. As much of it is circumstantial as anything else.

He will do it somewhere.

Even if we are not starting him as we are worried about the fee, I’d have given him more sub minutes. I’d continue to so, with European games coming up, but he’s clearly down the pecking order now. I’d then want to haggle on the 20 million.

In reality it all depends on the style of the new manager

I'm not 100% sure what his best position is.

He has not shown he is a number nine. He hasn't displaced Sarr/Pino in one of the ten slots. We now have Guessand and Brennan Johnson competing for those number ten positions.

Could he operate as an inverted winger? Hard to tell but I have not seen him looking to beat people on the outside in the few minutes he has had. He would therefore be quite predictable in that position.

Depending on the new manager, we might only play with one ten and not two as we do right now.

Taking all this into account, I cannot see how he fits in the team either starting or off the bench. There are precedents eg Victor Moses who was a ten but then emerged as a Premier League winning wing back. But they are few and far between.

I have a suspicion the £80m or so outlay on Stand-Larsen and Johnson factored in the purchase option on Uche would not be triggered.

He's a likeable guy and has shown glimpses of what he can do in the European games, but for me it is a case of good player wrong time.

Uche and Nketiah seemed to have a good mutual understanding against Shelbourne; not admittedly the most taxing of opposition (though we didn't always manage the convincing wins we should have against smaller clubs) but they seemed read each other well; I'd be dsappointed never to see if they could still do it against Premier league defences.

i like Uche and think there is a good player in there somewhere.

However, he was bought , i think, to predominantly play in the 10 position and he has struggled there.

We also don't know what goes on in training.

As an emergency striker, which is not a natural position for him, he has done well in the conference and even against Macc, despite not playing well, he had two excellent chances that only narrowly missed.

When we bought in Guessand in, i thought the logic was an Uche upgrade so i suspect we won't see much of him now.

Maybe in the conference - oh, not in the squad!

Unfortunately he will be a sub for the rest of the season and will rarely come in.

With the squad we have now I can’t see him staying. Realistically he is behind, Sarr, JSL, Guessand, Johnson, Pino, Nketiah (for the 5 games a season he is fit) for a place. He might even be behind Esse. He’s probably ahead of JPM for the time being but who knows if JPM sorts out his attitude and makes amends.

To be honest we now have too many forward players in the squad. I can’t see Uche staying and we will want to get rid of JPM in the summer. Maybe Nketiah as well

Looks unlikely he'll be staying. There's no chance he'll be starting in 7 of 13 league games.

I think he's got the potential to be decent, he clearly has ability, you don't score our goal of the season without it. Think there's multiple things not helping him, Glasner is pretty rigid with the players he'll trust, the formation doesn't necessarily suit Uche and given his lack of game time it's almost impossible for him to get any sort of rhythm. Lastly I think the loan to buy is really going against him as it's obvious we no longer pay the 17m. So he's stuck in no man's land a bit like Harvey Elliott. It's a shame for the player.

My hope it's we negotiate a lower fee and bring him in as I do think he can be useful. Whether he'd be interested in that I don't know as we've basically wasted a year of his career, obviously he's not guilt free in it all but I do have a lot of sympathy for him as it's not the easiest situation to come into.

I think for what we have currently seen he is not worth the price we would need to pay to get him. I cant see him getting much game time now anyway. Not unless we are racked with injuries again.

He’s obviously not good enough.

Does anyone actually think that he wouldn’t have had many more minutes, with Mateta injured and Nketiah being hopeless, if he was?

I’m sure the club would loved to have saved the money spent on Larsen.
Disagree, Glasner thought that Devenny was better than Nkhetiah, Uche and Esse in the 10 position behind the striker so his talent identification is poor
