Yeremy Pino

... also with no balance (He did make a bunch of mistakes, but also wasn't hiding. He was trying to get on the ball as much as possible and makes stuff happen).

He's a experienced Spanish international, so clearly isn't 'sh1t'.

Pino not only tries to get on the ball, he often succeeds. Then very frequently makes a horrible mess of even the simplest final ball, or loses it unnecessarily and exposes us to a counter attack. Then he'll immediately do it all over again.

In that regard its interesting to compare him to Johnson, who seems to hide from the game entirely. Perhaps the most anonymous player we have had for years. In that sense I can see why one might give Pino more credit than Johnson. I'm not sure it is working that way for me, though.

I suppose I still don't know whether Johnson is a terrible footballer, or actually just one who could come to life when given a different job in a different system by a different manager. His total lack of involvement somehow protects him from assessment. Its like he remains an unknown quantity, despite playing every week.

Whereas with Pino, I feel like we can already see how bad he is because he goes out of his way to show us.

Happy to accept that new players may need time, especially when they are young men moving to a new country, new place of work, new league, new manager, all for the first time. I would love to see him do well. I certainly wouldn't get on his back out loud at Selhurst during a game, especially as he does seem to be trying. Still, the evidence of my own eyes can't be ignored.

Hopefully he is not s***, just playing like it at the moment.

Johnson looks totally lost, like a 'Fish out of water'.
The current role and team structure doesn't appear to suit him. Perhaps a different manager will prove beneficial not only to him but to all of us as we yearn to see him perform with style and panache.

If Mr. Larsen is on the firm Johnson might recover his back post tap in habit.

But look, the Spanish national team dont pick mugs.

Not saying he is the next Yamal, but he must be pretty talented.

Lets just keep the faith eh 🙂

Unless it was Munoz who crossed it.
Munoz would chase his own crosses down. He's the Columbian version of Terminator. One gram of white powder and he'll chase anyone down. Sarah Connor, her son - whoever you like really.
Alternatively, he couldn't catch the A-Team but with Hannibal being such a master of disguise and BA's ability to blend in just about anywhere - you can't blame him for that.

True. Old BA was a real chameleon - anything from The Tiller Girls to the lead role in a remake of Annie. He could disappear into the part.

He's been completely useless.. But today, he showed glimpses of what he can offer, he was allowed to roam more and dropped deeper which he hasn't done all season.. maybe you didnt see it, but it happened.😂
I’m over 60 and a bit plump round the middle, but put me on the pitch and I could roam around and drop deeper, but I’d still be f***ing useless 🤣

I’m all for giving him time because there’s definitely a footballer in there, but all footballers have bad games. The difference is most times they get subbed. He was allowed to play on when he couldn’t make a simple pass without giving the ball away. I was convinced Forest were going to break upfield and score every time he did it. In the end I was shouting at the TV. “FFS don’t give it to Pino!” I know our bench was limited but I’d have brought on one of the kids or even a keeper just to get him off the field. Brian Clough famously took Steve Hodge off against us when he had no subs left. Pino needed saving from himself!

Easy to do when you're 3-0 up with 6 minutes left !

5 Goals and 5 assists (Transfermarkt) in 2410 minutes 33 appearances. Given he had no pre-season, was thrown immediately into 2/3 matches a week with unsettled players and a manager who doesn’t give a s**t I think he has done ok considering it.

Some on here don’t give new players any leeway when they sign. Sorloth was pilloried despite coming midway through the season, having Roy unhappy at his signing and starting only four matches before being assigned to the bench. As I recall it Glen Murray, Andy Johnson, Attilio Lombardo, Julian Speroni and many more had slow stars to their time at Palace.

It is worth noting that the idolised Jordan Ayew’s best figures were 11 goals/assists in two of his seven years at the Club. Let’s hold on and see and support the team.

Ayew had to work incredibly hard to turn opinions around on him. Many commented that Palace overpaid at £2.5 million during his first season, but he then went on to get POTY in a subsequent season. Pino also works hard, which gives me some hope he can improve. He's had to adjust to a new country, a new language and a new position at a time when the club has been in a state of flux. Having said all that, I did still expect more from a current Spanish international, but I have not given up hope.

Ayew was a workhorse and while his stats for goals/assists isnt great that is not what his main game was about his hold up play and helping with defending etc was key for us.

Some players are not cut out for Prem and excel in other leagues (Others need to sometime go away learn craft and then later on do well in Prem)

People trying to defend Pino with but he gets picked for Spain he must be good is rubbish International football is not the same as league football & what has he done so great for Spain nothing.

He has only played 19 times for Spain first time was when he was 18 he is now 23 that is not a good number (I will be fair to say 1 of those years he was injured but still 19 games in 4 years then is poor)
