To be honest, I feel like the need for any of us to shed blood will be down to Putin.

If he attacks NATO there won't be much choice.

Ukraine is just a pawn in this game. Europe does not want war, and they didn't expect Putin to invade.
Now the reduction in military capability since the Cold War looks a very big mistake and we are buying time.

Personally, I can't believe that anyone thinks that a conventional war is an option. But then, we have seen how stupid our leaders have been in the past. Nothing is certain.
 
The North American Treaty Organisation is America, nobody else, and they will not defend anyone in Europe.

I don't have an issue with Europe responding to an attack on a Nato country. The rules of the game on Nato involvement are very clear. It's meant to be a defensive alliance......and before Serbia and then others it was a defensive alliance.

I want a positive trade relationship with Russia because I want cheap energy.

Do I have issues with former soviet republics increasing tensions with aggressive comments regarding Russia, yeah I certainly do.....They should shut up and I expect behind the scenes that's been said.

But this is the problem, you let in troubled peoples and you get trouble.

Nato was meant to be Northern Europe and the US.....but that was a sensible argument that sensible people lost back in the 90s and here we are.

Chasing cheap energy when climate change demands we don’t doesn’t make much sense. Especially when most of us realise that it’s not going to be on offer whilst Putin, or even his likely successor, remain in control.

Getting a policy for two overwhelming, and very obvious reasons, is new ground. Even for you.

I share Mac's anger over what was done to us by the Israelis to kick us our of Palestine.....especially since it was our mandate that put them there.

It goes beyond murdering our guys, these feckers gave medals to those terrorists and one of them became Israeli PM.

Never had the apology, in fact they blame us if anything....the relatives should be massively compensated.

Also a lot of people don't know that the early Israeli state was practically a nest of commies.

That said....For the life of me I don't know why you two dislike each other so much.

Having different opinions on Ukraine/Russia aside....or Israel for that matter......It's not as if anything we say here is worth falling out over.

The people who really hate you aren't on these boards arguing the toss over these topics....well aside from a couple perhaps.

Errrr....Yes it does.

We have the hignest energy prices in Europe......Climate change effects northern Europe far less than most on the planet. In real terms, the Chinese don't give a feck, nor do the US and nor do the middle east....none of the major users give a feck and our contribution is under one percent.

So excuse me if I think that it's actually you who doesn't make much sense.....No surprises there.

You have the income levels to not be concerned about high energy prices.....Most of Britain doesn't have your income level Mr Landlord.

When you are going cold old man, without enough to pay for extra heating and you are then still arguing for high energy prices......Perhaps then I'd give a monkey's what you think about it.
