Farage says he's 'never directly racially abused anybody' after school racism claims

If Farage has committed a crime I look forward to the BBC and ITV being prosecuted as well, along with about half the country.

The backlash has already started. Mail is smearing Lammy for saying he admired Bill Cosby (Rapist sex offender) when he was growing up (and his criminal behaviour was not known).

I don't have a problem with Lammy's comments. Bill Cosby was the most influential (not just black) person on American TV in the 1980's why wouldn't Dr Huxtable be someone to look up to.

If Lammy said he still admired him that would be a different matter.

Judging the past using today's standards is never a good look.

The best thing that can be said about this is that Farage is being honest and not trying to deny his attitudes, either in the past or now. Attitudes that I think are not dissimilar to those held by many who post here.

What anyone did, or said, as a teenager, unless it was obviously criminal, is only a step on their journey and ought not be held against them.

That said he is not actually denying racism. Just racism directed at individuals. It might be obvious to some but it will hurt him.

FFS you need to get out more. Those people you name are all guilty of some terrible crimes - 3 of the 4 for rape!!!

Have you not seen a UK newspaper over the last 18 months or before that to be honest - i give you beer gate as an example which the Daily Mail (owned by Boris's mate) ran for 13 days despite it being a non story.

What papers are running the Farage story?? One or two at the most

as a kid i quite like Gary Glitter and Rolf Harris!!!

As for Farage he has changed his tune. A few days ago he was denying it completely and now after more people have come forward he is admitting it but with caveats.

I am more concerned about how he avoided stamp duty on his Clacton House as his foreign girlfriend does not appear to have any income or savings. Compare the treatment he has received with Raynor's - now that's the story

If any left-wing or Labour politician was facing these sort of allegations, it would be in every paper in the country and the same people saying it's nothing to worry about would be frothing at the bit - you only have to look at the fallout to far less serious/credible stories for the proof.

Imagine the scenes if Corbyn was reported to have made gas hissing noises or said "Hitler was right" in his youth.

It will be now because Labour have opened the door. When it does happen remember that the Prime Minster’s office demanded that Farage explain himself. They didn't have to do that Starmer could have ignored it.
