In seriousness, I presume he'll just be free when deported. I have no idea if he'll be given money but it wouldn't surprise me. Maybe I'm missing something but it's hardly a harsh punishment.

I'm not fully clear as to what he did, the title uses the word rape which cannot be true as he only got two years.I understood the judge said two years and THEN deportation.

He should not be punished for anything connected with his release. He did nothing wrong. Then.

It is what happened that got him banged up that causes the quandary.

He was sentenced and must serve his time. As you say, what signal does this send that if you are an immigrant and commit a crime, being sent home to mum in a state funded flight is an option.

But instant deportation is also attractive. Gone, banished, never to return. Why should our taxpayers spend the fortune of keeping this rat safe in custody?

With regard to the punishment I agree a quandary, on the one hand he should serve an adequate prison sentence but why keep him at taxpayers expense? Personally I believe he should have served at least half his sentence and then be immediately deported
