What a great night in Lublin - all the bars were buzzing with Palace fans.
The team did us proud as did the fans - loved the JP drone song and also the Pino one
Can't wait for the next European tour match!!!

I suspect, in a game like that (where we are winning and cruising). Making subs like Sarr, Devenny, Lerma make sense. They know the system inside and out.

Uche is probably the guy you bring on when you are chasing the game.

That aside, we are going to have to manage game time. Hopefully he'll get some time at the weekeend.

I also agree with the notion that Glasner will not just throw a player on for the sake of it and he (OG) wants the player to understand, adhere to and deliver his instructions/tactics.

Perhaps, as opposed to just being rated as 'not very good', Romain Esse has struggled to adopt Glasner's instruction? Uche may well fall into the same bracket, as could any other player, however let's hope not.

Might also be why many questioned Kamada's continued selection whilst not looking very good. OG was probably aware that soon enough he'd have a competent player on the pitch, capable of delivering what OG wished of him.

100%. There is so much more to this system then is immediately obvious. And its not just about grafting, its about making decision making and being 5 steps ahead.

In one of those analysis videos doing the rounds after Liverpool, the fella highlighted TM intercepting a long VVD cross field ball (which was impressive enough in itself).

But what was great to see is that the moment that ball was in the air, TM left his man and decided to attack it (or was told), Guehi instantly sprinted to cover TM, and Wharton and Kamada stuck tight to the 2 Liverpool midfielders.

If TM gets it, we create a counter, but he's able to gamble knowing that everything behind and to the side of him is ready to protect him if he doesn't get it. Its 100% coordinated. Guehi literally moves up the millisecond TM goes.

With this team there is so much that happens without us realising it.

Knowing when to take a risk or to play safe is such a huge part of the game. I think OG has drilled this into the players.

The smooth movement of Pino, Kamada, and Wharton is a joy to behold! It all seems to have clicked into place, and I think this is becoming of a very sound defence and a top goalkeeper. Nketiah seems a happy chappie and I expect to see him have a good season with his new found confidence.
All in all very promising to see the pieces fit together so seamlessly so early in the season.

With Utd, there is a lot of chat about formations in the press, and how can we do it when Utd cant. Our boys work cohesively, which is why Lerma or Clyne can so easily patch holes at the back.

Its why with all the talent in the world Esse, will not play until he proves he is smart enough to play the way OG demands.

Sarr's goal v Liverpool gave me an observation. When the ball was flicked on, Sarr had just arrived at that spot. Was that a coincidence, or a training ground routine. I think the latter.

I hope Lacroix is ok. Firstly minor head injury but the stamping on his ankle looked worse. The guy seemed to jump onto it. Lacroix seemed fine, but it looked painful. I would think that would swell later - from personal experience.

I kinda dont disagree, but Glasner isn't one for letting sentiment get in the way. The job to do was to secure the 3 points.

Don't forget Esse's had 10 months of training, Uche only 1.

I have no fear about Uche, it's early days yet. Some players need time to fit in. others (like Pino) don't.

The most number of league goals he has scored in a season is 6.
In his last 4 full seasons at Villarreal he only scored 17 league goals.

it was like a parting of the waves, our players moved theirs to each post, huge gap in the middle appeared and Sarr strolled into it late, near post flick on, ta very much, had to be planned.

Exactly.

I think the physicality and pace was a bit much for Kamada initially, still is to some extent, but he’s adapting and therefore improving.

Add to that - new team, new league/opposition, new country, new language etc.

I think this was the crux of the perceived issue with Kamada.

He's always performed his role in the system well. Whilst making some mistakes and missing some tackles.

Fans only see the missed passes and tackles. Glasner was ok with the performance as the system worked, and knew that in time Kamada would adjust and cut out some of the issues.
