Anyone up for some humble pie?

Didn’t know whether to continue threads:

‘Time to start doing Business Steve..!!’ or

‘Has Parish ruined this season?’

Here’s a new thread instead.

I agree that it’s very inconvenient for a manager that we haven’t concluded business by the start of the season, but the Eze wanting to go to Arsenal (as long as we got our price which we did) isn’t easy to manage being our size vs Arsenal when players obviously want to go.

Eze gone. Pino in. Pino is much faster over any distance imo.

Previously Olise out and Sarr in. Sarr is again quicker and more direct, plus he scores goals, important ones too.

Andersen out and Lacroix in. Great business when many around were losing their sh1t.

Anyone glad now we have Parish here? One thing I do agree with though is this delay on the main stand isn’t helping our revenue and ability to do business and cement ourselves more in the premier league and hopefully top half.

Good thread. Some people embarrassed themselves on here when the window was open,’ we’ve lost all of our momentum since the cup final’
Have we? Unbeaten since April.
Lost Eze , better squad now than before the transfer window. Yesterday was the best bench we’ve had in ages.

Indeed.

Lots on here just love to criticise, Glasner (when first appointed), Parish, Kamada, JP etc etc.

I expect they’ll soon be piping up again when things inevitably start to get a bit harder and we go a few games without a win.

Have you asked Ollie the same question?!

He was the one who seemed to be questioning our summer transfer window more than anyone!!
No but the media have in several press conferences and he no longer wants to talk, let alone complain, about transfers - he has said relations with Parish are good and wants to move on.

He was critical, how many managers don’t want their club to spend more, but not more than some posters on here, who called for Parish’s head.

100% with all the games coming up, we'll stumble. Wont take more than a couple of games before there are calls to change the formation and drop Kamada

No, I dont think anyone on here has thought Parish has done a bad job overall, the thread wasn't discussing the last 10 years, it was the transfer window and it was still poorly managed.

Lol ok then. So one 'bad' transfer window (in which we objectively ended up with a better squad) is enough for

'Has Parish ruined the season?'
'Should OG walk?
'Should Parish resign'

Its still far too early to fairly judge any of our new signings, pino looks good but Im still not going to compare him to Eze, its unfair, kamada is a better player now, all our new signings need time.

Its like Liverpool winning the league and their fans saying, was it unfair to criticise the club defensively at the beginning of the season. No, whatever happens, they have been poor defensively.

If selling Eze for £60 million and replacing him with a younger but established Spanish international, keeping England’s best defender and the rest of the best squad we have ever had, bringing in a decent looking reserve keeper and wing back and another forward with potential, being 2nd in the league having won the Community Shield and beaten Liverpool is poorly managed… what would averagely managed, well managed and excellently managed looked like?

Is getting a (probably worse) deal for Eze sooner and bringing in Yeremy for pre-season, selling Guehi for £30m early on and somehow finding a replacement for £20m, settling them in and still continuing the best run in the club’s history par or would we need to be top of the league?

Parish didn't keep Guehi, he sold him on deadline day, Glasner was the one who told the club to pull out of the deal, because it wasnt the best option for us as a club. an established spain international ? No he's a player with caps, he's nowhere near the starting line up.

Okay if Liverpool dont win the league, is it the boards fault ? Of course it ain't, they've heavily backed the manager. If we just miss out of qualifying for Europe through the league, who are you blaming ? The manager or the board ?

As far as I'm concerned Mr P has done wonders with our club, and all for tuppence ha'penny when you consider how much Liverpool spent in the last window.

A world class manager who not many of us had heard about before and some cracking players brought in who, again, were largely unknown. And no-one has beaten us in 18 games. Goes to show loadsa money doesn't necessarily buy results.

Keep doing what you're doing Mr P. It works.

Guehi didn’t leave, Parish is ultimately in charge of the club, brought in Glasner, discussed it with him and didn’t sell Guehi.

‘At the end of the many discussions, the chairman asked me, ‘Oliver, do you think we can manage the season when we sell Marc?’ And I said, ‘Steve, honestly, I think we can’t manage it in the short term,’” said Glasner.

“If we buy a 19-year-old fantastic player with about 1,000 minutes in Ligue 1 and sell our captain with about 15,000 minutes in the Premier League, I think we can’t manage it in the short term. And then we have three centre-backs. With our schedule, and if we have an injury in the back three, I think it’s very, very risky.

“If you want this scenario for Crystal Palace, and you are fine with it, sell Marc. If you don’t want to have this for Crystal Palace, then we have to keep him. And then he decided we keep him. So, big credit to the chairman. I didn’t have to threaten anybody. There was no tensions between the chairman and myself. It was really just a discussion about sports.” The rest is clickbait.

So at this stage you don’t think the Eze/Yeremy business is looking like a decent deal?

Of course its a great deal, Eze was always going to go to a bigger club, the club got good money and pino looks a good replacement, but most prem players are international players, its the emphasis on him being a Spanish international, that somehow automatically makes him better. Eze is an established England player. It's like franca, people were more excited because he was Brazilian, if he was Hungarian, no one would have cared.
