US Politics

You can find a video he posted where he goes over his equipment.....the freak sounds like the serial killer out of 'Silence of the Lambs' with its weird distorted voice. He's making little giggles and comments as he shows the equipment to the camera.

The guy had 'kill Donald Trump' written on his gun equipment along with 'six million wasn't enough' and other messages including the names of other mass shooters....Another nasty one was, 'where is your god now'....along with Satanic symbols (somewhat ironic as that would affirm Christianity and other religions)....though it's probably done deliberately to show his hatred.

Mentally fecked up and Evil.

Those far lefties are so full of hatred and evil. Even looking at one you can see the pure evil and hatred they have.

ITV News makes the BBC look like The National Front.

It's like satire.
The BBC fight back not to be out done.

It's an anti Trump story about how vindictive he is taking away Kamala Harris's security. Until you get to nearly the bottom of the article when this little gen appears.

"Only one other former vice-president, Dick Cheney, is believed to have Secret Service protections extended after leaving office, by then-President Barack Obama."

Right so it's standard practice to cancel it after about 6 months. So why is this a news story if Trump is just following established protocol. Oh right it's Trump.

It isn’t the least “anti Trump”.

The story goes out of its way to explain why the removal of protection at this point is usual to dispel any suggestions of political motivations and that the decision to recommend it to the President was taken by the service after a threat analysis. Him interfering in other decisions, like that on Bolton, being included to highlight why this isn’t the same.

So the decision to strike down most of the Trump tariffs has been upheld by the appeal court as an unconstitutional attempt to illegally extend his Presidential authority. Such matters being the exclusive responsibility of Congress.

This will now be a huge test of the Supreme Court and seems likely to be not just a pivotal moment in Trump’s second term but of the whole future direction of America.

My gut feeling is that they will rule against him, despite the fact of the conservative majority and that Trump has appointed 3 of the Justices. I suspect that they will see this as a test of the separation of powers embedded into the constitution and therefore a threat to themselves as well as to Congress. Having already protected Trump by confirming his partial immunity from prosecution the Justices he appointed may now feel unshackled from any personal debt.

If they rule for him then the future of the USA looks very grim indeed and for the rest of the world too.

A good time to buy shares?

While I think some criticisms of Trump's tariff obsession are valid and have been made on here I think the idea that the Supreme Court will rule in favour of striking his tariffs down is highly unrealistic.

The court decision to make them illegal had a strong left wing majority just as the Supreme Court has a strong conservative majority.

If they voted against Trump I think it would practically bring down his administration.....considering he's just passed his bonkers 'big beautiful bill' it also bankrupts the country.

I can't see them doing that.

Wishful thinking from our Corny contingent.....realistically this is just the democrats doing whatever they can to delay and take up government time and resources.

The days of non political court systems has sadly long long gone.....and the left only have themselves to blame.

The US Supreme Court has a history of denying Presidents any attempt to increase their powers. As the key protector of the Constitution and its fundamental basis being the separation of power they see any moves to change that as a potential threat to themselves.

So I don’t see this being a Conservative v Liberal matter at all. It could be a personal loyalty matter but hopefully those debts have been paid.

With Trump displaying ever more signs of mental decline and instability I think they will be very cautious and refuse any appeal by the administration, saying that they neither agree nor disagree with the tariffs but that the place to levy them is in Congress, not the White House. Congress can pass a bill confirming them all, should they agree. Then it becomes a key issue for the mid terms.

It’s a very important fork in the road though. Down one road lies dictatorship, down the other democracy.

I found this the other day and my gob is well and truly smacked.

'The latest report from the US Department of the Treasury as of March 2025 shows that the United Kingdom has overtaken China as the world's second-largest holder of US government debt (US Treasuries), with total holdings reaching USD 779.3 billion'.

L,il old blighty, us? 779.3 billions? Over-taking China?

😵

Some of that may be true, we don't know, but on the decision, none of that really matters on this.

It's economic me old man.....America would collapse if it had to pay back all those tariffs.

As for dictatorship....Pah....That will come, but not under Trump. Get better glasses.

Blimey! That's genuinely scary and it also explains quite a lot.

Gulp.

They may be held in Britain but they are not belonging to Britain. You think the UK owns 800bn of US debt? Have a think about it.
China is different. Their government/ governmental development funds/ investment funds or national bank own the debt.

I’m not sure that’s true. The exact figure varies a little depending on where you look but they broadly agree that the UK treasury is holding that level of debt.

If that is true then we have the Americans by the balls. Not sure I believe that.

That amount of debt is less than one thirtieth of American total debt so not really.

However, if the American economy fell and they called that debt in......We are fecked.

The scale of the two economies is very different.

Another WW1 and WW2 legacy we are somehow meant to be proud of.

Sorry, I’m confused. Do you mean if America was unable to pay the UK what the USA owes then the UK is in trouble (well, more trouble)

One thirtieth of American debt is owed to us.

The Marshall plan was paid off to the USA in 2006.

Perhaps, I fecked up my words a bit.

I mean that if the American economy collapses, ours does too.....as it's already orientated around it as both the largest single nation trader and holding so much debt of theirs.

Interdependence has its downsides......Globalism, unless you have the ability to be self reliant, ultimately controls you.
