Should OG walk

Zaha, then Olise, then Eze, now Guehi......

surely in summer 2026 it will be another one or two Diamond players gone.

Is Parish aiming for us to finish fourth from bottom, every year ? if so, we need a relegation dogfight specialist like Big Sam Allardyce....oh, hang on, he left us too.

Looks like our successful time under Glasner has been a blip......... with normal service to be resumed with a new 'emergency' stand-in. Some journeyman manager and a journeyman squad.
Remind me again when we finished forth from bottom...

I disagree wholeheartedly. I respect what Mr P has done for our club, but at this point in our history we need to retain the best manager we've ever seen at Selhurst.

And, although the potential deal was for a sum of £35m, remember that Chelsea would have received £7m of it, and I reckon Marc is worth a lot more than £28m to us.

No they wouldn't.

Its 20% sell on fee 'of the profit', not sold price. so profit would have been £17m, 20% of the profit would be £3.4m

To say Glasner is attempting to run the club is a gross exaggeration.

He said the agreement he had with the club was that key players wouldn’t be sold without replacements and it appears that the club were attempting to renege on that.
His professional opinion is that the club would be taking a backward step in selling Guehi without a proper replacement- is that wrong?
The lessons to be learnt are by the club.
Stop trying to replace one of the best centre backs in the Premier League at the 11th hour with a 4th choice Brighton centre back if you want to keep an excellent manager on board.
We kept Guehi because we couldn't get a replacement. How is that reneging?

I think that’s why the release clause date ends a week or 2 before the end of the transfer window. People have argued it gave Spurs the opportunity to wait and offer less. Well it also gives the owning club the opportunity to turn it down and/or sell for higher with less time to find a replacement. That’s future planning.

This Guehi handling was a bit shambolic but I bet Glasner goes as a free man next summer whatever happens. Still doesn’t excuse being minutes away from Guehi leaving without a replacement.
We weren't.

Guehi had posted a farewell video to the Palace fans, the deal sheet was in , Guehi had the medical.
It appears that if Glasner hadn’t stepped in, Guehi would have been sold meaning the agreement would have been reneged upon.
Glasner said yesterday that it was not possible to get a replacement in and that the club must not sell Guehi.
They still tried, but finally relented.

The relationship between Parish and Glasner has been damaged irreparably…….its just a matter of when he goes now not if.
These things can cement a relationship. Parish respects him more or more than the previous bozo’s an might not go against agreements again. But ultimately I think Glasner would have remained a free agent whatever and is gone regardless of anything next summer. He’s going to get big club offers. He knows it, we know it, Parish knows it.

Why is everyone being so negative ? It seems some people actually want Glasner to go so they can spill more hate on SP. By the time we play Sunderland we will have a great squad and the manager like MG will be too professional to let any issue (if there is one) get in the way of his focus to win more games. Much to look forward to.

From the CPFC point of view ie Parish we needed to sell for revenue income. From Guehi ‘ s point of view it would have been good to go to Liverpool the Premiership Champions with a great uplift in terms but not much of a problem if it does not because he will be able to pick and choose who he goes to with a big signing on fee. From Glasner point of view for him to progress in his career he needs to win the Europa Championship and perform well in the Premiership and to achieve that he needs MG to help his cause. The fans want the best players to stay and to have the best manager.
It would appear from the way things have ended up the loser is the club by way of income.
Let’s just hope we earn so much money from our performances in the the Premiership and the cup competitions and European Championship that it negates the income losses.
The pressure is now on Oliver Glasner to deliver as he has apparently got his way.COYP

I'd be somewhat curious if anyone can come up with the actual net cost of this, plus the possible benefits. I'll give it a try:

To my knowledge, Chelsea only get 20% off profits, that would be around £3.4m. But Crystal Palace also saves the loan fee for Igor (couldn't find it anywhere - maybe £3m?). Salary for Guehi is a tad higher, but not much (maybe £200,000 for 10-11 months). So unless I've missed anything, that's around £29m total cost.

Crystal Palace is currently the bookie favorite to win the Conference League. Winning the whole thing gets you around 22m Euros (includes five group stage wins and the starting bonus for the 2026 Europa League).

Finishing further up in the Premier League table gets you around £3m per rank. Eigth place finish would pay £12m more than twelfth.

There's also money to be made from additional home games (Cup, Conference League), although I couldn't find how much Crystal Palace makes from a sold-out stadium

But even with a somewhat conservative estimate (three places up PL, 3-4 extra rounds in cups, no silverware) that's a difference of, let's say, £14m.

Now we're down to a cost of only £15m for having Guehi run his contract down. But that doesn't include that Crystal Palace is building a reputation. That it will be easier (and possibly cheaper) to attract new players if the club produces consistent results. Even if Glasner does leave at the end of the season, it will be easier to attract a better replacement. And so on.

Of course, we will only know for sure at the end of the season, but if you look at the numbers, the entire chain of events looks far less spectacular - fairly rational business decisions that are almost too close to call and with much smaller margins of profit than it would seem at first glance.

The deal was that Guehi would stay if no replacement. We got no replacement. Guehi was not sold. The deal was honoured.

If you believe the bollocks about Glasner threatening Parish, you must be naive. How would that even reach a reporter?

I mostly agree on this. Just i believe we would also pay Igor’s wage and Guehi being on 50k per week, i think our loss is mostly £28m excluding success income on the field (EPL ranking etc)

My take is:

- Guehi’s loss would not have a dramatic impact and we would cover on the go but alternative was not convincing.
- As you explained, loss is not £35m, with average boost at league and Europe, it would be maximum £25m.

Other add-ons:

- Liverpool lost a chance. Hoping Real etc would lure him.
- Who knows, maybe he will change his mind and renew a contract.
- Symbol of ambition for this year.
- Comfortable time for French young to bed in.

Given the comments after villa game and todays events I for one wouldn’t blame OG if he walked I know money matters but Parish has overstepped the mark with todays decision From the heady heights of last May and this seasons start Steve should have given him his full support and if Marc had to go he should have found a suitable replacement instead of last 4 hours and a Brighton loan Typical palace after 60 years thought finally we were up there with the top clubs but won’t happen when OG walks
OG should not walk. He is a driven coach.
